$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('GASMON', 'I')nteresting comments at the bottom.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') never understood what it was about Western ideologues who got so fixated about "Communism" that they didn't see the national interests behind it. Whatever political system runs Russia (or China or a host of other nations) its reasonable to assume that they're going to put their national interests and security first.

The fix is to have a national interest.

That pretty much nails the leadership issue. Except I would modify that with a "perceived".

Individuals have delegated responsibility to the State, and the State has abdicated it. Or delegated it to the aggregate forces of society. Our leaders have replaced action with "creating a policy framework" then waiting for their goals to be achieved for them as if by some ghost in the machine.

"Today, our leaders do not even tell us what is wrong, let alone how to put it right."

Quite true.

To paraphrase one of Isaac Asimovs characters in the Foundation Series; " The Global Empire is dying".
This is what we face here in our world today. We have world leaders ensconced in their capitals like emperors in their palaces, who are out of touch with the greater world.
I look at these men and women who are supposed to guide our civilization, and I shudder.
Alex, jumps back into reading the Foundation Series, looking for a real life version of Hari Seldons Pychohistory...
The bigger you build the bonfire, the more darkness is revealed."
