The elections at the end of the month--didn't we go though something very similar in June?

Is this attempt going to be any different?

Yes. the webtoon says it will be hot and dusty in June, now it is cold and dusty.

So cold dust is better, right?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'P')eople in many areas are being told that if they don’t vote- Sunnis and Shia alike- the food and supply rations we are supposed to get monthly will be cut off. We’ve been getting these rations since the beginning of the nineties and for many families, it’s their main source of sustenance. What sort of democracy is it when you FORCE people to go vote for someone or another they don’t want?

Dosen't this seeem rather unsustainable to you? People having to rely on food shipments for sustinance when they should be capable of harvesing/hunting/purchasing sufficent quantities to survive on? When TSHTF, these people, (persons who cannot sustain themselves), will be the first to perish.

So we should let them sell 2 MBPD, and in exchange for letting thier oil on the world market, we could give them sustinance in exchange. Kind of like what was done during the 90's with the "oil for food" program, but Saddam Hussien is not in the way to skim off the profits for weapons instead of food.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('k_semler', 'S')o we should let them sell 2 MBPD

I'm afraid you have your premis reversed. The US would cream in its collective tighty whities if it could get 2 MBPD out of Iraq now.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')b]OFFICIALS UNCERTAIN OF INSURGENTS' DEFEAT

By Tom Lasseter

Knight Ridder

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq's first democratic elections in 50 years were marred by nine suicide bombers, 44 people reported killed and untold numbers of mortar shells that rained down on polling sites and the nation's government center.

The elections were, in other words, a success.

Because the death toll fell far short of what many had feared, the voting was a clear political victory for U.S. and Iraqi security forces. It was unclear, however, whether the insurgents were foiled by Iraqi security forces and by the 150,000 U.S. soldiers conducting aggressive operations or whether most of them took the day off to wait for better times, places and targets.

``The streets of Baghdad were not filled with blood as mentioned by the terrorist groups,'' said Farid Ayar, an official with Iraq's Independent Electoral Commission.

Ayar stopped short of naming Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian terrorist who has claimed responsibility for numerous bombings, assassinations and beheadings across Iraq.

So how many died during Sovereignty for comparison?

I like how the insurgents took a 4 day weekend. :)
