How many people do you know on psych meds?

Unread postby AlCzervik » Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:33:33

I would bet a third of the people I come into contact with often with are doped up on something. Sis is on Prozac. Almost every secretary in my office is cranking Xanax or Prozac. Ex-girlfriend was taking something for anxiety. Every other kid popping Ritalin. I don't mean to come off like a Tom Cruise anti-science guy...heck, I am the son of a psychiatrist and have seen him help a lot of people with counseling and meds, but it's absolutely ridiculous. How are these zombies gonna function post-peak without their dope?

Is this something that people usually admit to their co-workers? I don't know any of them that said so, but I suspect some do.

Food and medicine will likely be given a high priority when rationing starts. Shortly after that, one better buy in advance the medicine one needs.

Free? I meant food and drug transportation, which will cost even more than now even adjusted for inflation.

I'm on Seroquel, but it's temporal. I unwillingly at first started taken them (the other option was even worst), and honestly I cann't risk making the same mistake again. I have being delusional in the past, but now it's over.

I, my mind, my spirit, was cured with meditation not pills. But pills do offered a predictable platform for where I could fix (me)... even if it was the tendency to sleepyness.

Because of my change for better, my psychiatrist agrees that this is temporal. And he has decided on a time frame; basically next January I will take much less and weeks or months after that be completely off this pills. Every pill I take is 1 less day to the day I'm free of them.

so, STFU about dismissing all pscych medicated as zombies! With that kind of simplistic mind; I'm actually less zombie than you :P

They won't function very well, hence the term, zombies. Don't forget the meth freaks, they will be zoombies for a few days and then turn into zombies.

Just 1 (that I know of) but I've been offered them but politely declined.

I don't think I need fixing.

"Doped up," "psych meds," "cranking," "zombies."

Don't have a bias, do you?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') don't mean to come off like a Tom Cruise anti-science guy...

But you are, Blanche, you are coming off like a Tom Cruise anti-science guy. The intent seems to be to flaunt your own psychological superiority, but you end up doing the opposite.

Why don't you launch into a diatribe against insulin, or aspirin?

"How many people do you know on insulin?"

Boy, my partner is always shooting up that stuff! What a crutch!

We'll never know how many people we come into contact with are on psych meds because they're discreet about it and their behavior doesn't betray that fact that they're "cranking."

I'd rather take a psych med than spend thousands of dollars on ineffectual talk therapy.

About a year ago, I posed this question on a 99% female bulletin board that I frequented. Most of the women were 45-years-old or more. Of the 60 people who responded, less than 10% were not on some sort of prescription medication. That really blew my mind.

When my 87-year-old auntie was in the nursing home, the nurses would just about faint when I told them that she wasn't on any medications. Several said, "She's probably the only one who *isn't* on some kind of drugs."

And now they say our water supply is tainted from all the prescription meds passing through people's urine (and into the toilet) and back into the water supply.

We *are* a bunch of druggies.

Anointing oil

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he ancient recipe for this anointing oil, recorded in the Old Testament book of Exodus (30: 22-23) included over nine pounds of flowering cannabis tops, Hebrew "kaneh-bosm" B, extracted into a hind (about 6.5 litres) of olive oil, along with a variety of other herbs and spices. The ancient chosen ones were literally drenched in this potent cannabis holy oil.

My wife is another story however.

Free? I meant food and drug transportation, which will cost even more than now even adjusted for inflation.

Do you have any idea how many Xanax you can fit in a tractor trailer? Transportation of medicine is so cheap on a per pill basis that it is basically free. The current cost of truck transportation is about $1 a mile (something like that).

Let's say it jumps to $100 a mile. Your basic shipping container has 1,200 cubic feet of storage. If you can fit a million Xanax in a truck (833 pills per cubic foot, a reasonable estimate) and your truck travels 1,000 miles, that's 10 cents a pill.

That compares to the retail price of several dollars per pill. Transportation costs are a non-issue for prescription drugs.
