The Evening News

Unread postby Troyboy1208 » Wed 11 Jun 2008, 10:14:21

So I sat down this morning to watch the netcast of NBC news and It was like watching the end of the world. They started off with the horrendous flooding in the midwest, heatwave in the east, snow in the cascades, and fires in Stockton California. That is some wacky weather. Then they flipped to energy. Oh boy. I had no idea how bad the situation was in Spain. Stores are running out of things...important things. Everyone is on strike it seems. Saw one image of a group of protesting truckers attacking a truck that broke that barricade and threw its load off of a bridge!
They they talked about mass transit. Every city is over loaded. Busses are so full they dont stop to pick up people. And now the municpalities are bitching about decreased funding from lack of gas taxes. Wow I wasnt expecting all that with my morning coffee.

This is where you should stop by to make a remark involving popcorn, if you are a self-respecting doomer, but I guess the line's not that funny anymore.

Some poor soul from Spain posted around a day ago about being scared. Hope they're ok. On our news it said the food markets were running out of food, and all this in a develop western country.

Troy,
I've felt the same lately. The end of the age. Happening in real time before our eyes. And you forgot to mention the earthquakes everywhere lately, the Myanmar tragedy.... and so on. One wonders about those countries even closer to the edge whose news we don't hear about. It's getting too real and too scary.
