From 1990 through 1993, I worked for an oil company as a secretary in International Relations which was a part of public relations. The managers, vp's and other personnel referred to the oil industry as a dinosaur industry for two reasons: one, that oil is derived from material from the pre-camprian era, etc., and two, that the oil industry is a dying industry with no future.
At one meeting break, I asked one of the executives what the company would be doing fifty or 100 years from now (2040, 2090 c.e.) and he looked at me with a puzzled manner. "I don't know." I asked if the company had future plans and he said, "no."
I was surprised. I have read books about England, with Great Britain as a setting, etc., and some companies have been in business for more than 100 years. Where will oil be?
