I've been looking around for more sustainable living/like-minded people. I stumbled on the following sites as a possible solution for gaining skills and/or finding a new community to live in.

I'm just posting this because 1) I figure there are other people interested in this way of life but don't have the $ to do it all alone (like me). 2) Because I'd love to find out if anyone here has done this and if so, how they found it to be?

Yes, several of us have posted those links a bunch of times in various threads in the Planning forum.

Some people have posted about their experiences with intentional communities. There's at least one intentional community thread.

One of my daughters did some travelling in Europe last year and did the wwoof thing. Mixed results, but interesting all in all. Apparently you really need to get involved well in advance to work out where and when you're going to be, and it would probably be good to get some feedback out where you're going if possible.
