Forget Bush's posturing. He was supposed to be the "oil man." He knew and so on. I recall Mathew Simmon's remark that oil CEOs don't read books. They are all about corporate politics, game playing and self-aggrandizement. I'll tell you a little story. I met the CEO of an oil services company at a party. I was a brash, unworldly kid in my late 20s. So I told him the rumor I had heard that his wife was making more money in Real Estate than he was as the head of his company. heh heh. He gave me the thousand yard stare and I figured, well, I'm not going anywhere with this company.
