You die hard doomers are probably saying we told you so. As quick as things are devolving, we may be pretty much out of time for preps. I think it may be time to circle the wagons.

When the oil price hits $150, then it's time to circle the wagons. Apparently, that price is a sort of tipping point where large numbers of companies will have to shut down their operations.

But for some reason I don't think we'll make it to $150 this year. I think we're in a sort of oil bubble, caused by Goldman Sachs' $150 oil story etc. This little bubble will pop this year and oil prices will probably retreat to $100. Of course: before that time the level of shit that we are in will have only increased that little bit more, but who's counting? It's too late now to mitigate anything.

It will have to be pure demand destruction that will balance things out going forward, methinks. Is that the "steepening slope" you're talking about?

As oil crossed $130 this morning, I told my wife she could be very "zen" about the job she absolutely hates because it probably won't exist soon.

We're just starting to feel the effects of $100 oil. We have yet to peak in housing foreclosures. By the time these two doom-balls alone pick up steam and the "economic dislocations", "ripple effects", business closings, etc., materialize broadly, the USA is going to feel a lot like Mexico (with more personal gadgets). And Mexico will be looking a whole lot more like Haiti.

We will learn about the exponential function - only too late and at great costs.

So yeah, I think the slide is getting steeper. I keep wondering if there will be a massive trigger event to usher in the chaos, or whether we will simply be crushed by overwhelming systemic collapse. Either way, time is getting shorter...

The slide is most definately getting steeper (and more frightening)...But that's no reason to stop the prep's...If anything it means it's time to increase preparations!

You are right. One should never stop preparing.

Yes, we've been right, and we're going to be more right.

Preparation is NOT an event, it is a process, and one that never ends.

You can and should prep every day for the rest of the time.

Every set of eyes reading these words - prepare now. Do what you can with what you have. If you have the funds, stock what you need to stock. If you don't have the funds, read books, start learning something new and useful, and so on.

World rotary oil/gas rig count: about 3000...that's it and it seems to me that many are drilling marginal holes, and seems like plug and abandon actions are increasing....( done when it seems like it will not make economic sense to continue)....Exxon/Mobile has made a corp choice not to spend alot on expensive exploration ( # 1 purpose of a corp is to create a return to investors )....Marathon is the only producer I am aware of that is working on a major increase of refining capacity ( Garyville, La )....Producers just don't have much $$$ incentive to increase volumn.....I don't think we will be able to "save" our way out of this with India,China economies. And worldwide, most fields are "maturing"----a nice word for declining...Brazil is years away from producing their current find and I expect many of our current (foreign) suppliers will limits exports in the next few years....Get a horse.

Sell (Or trade) your coffee cups and ties for a shovel and a good set of boots.

A man with a cup is going to starve to death, there will always, always be work for a man with tools even if its just digging graves for the millions that are going to end up dead.

Better grab yourself a good pair of gloves too.

As for me, I´m buying bulk quantities of food and ammo (I have been hoarding for a while in everything). That is always useful. All other preps done.

True, nothing last forever, but I had a minimum level I wanted to reach and that is happily done. I keep as I said buying food and other essential stuff. Everything will be used eventually and you beat inflation buying sooner that later.

Edit: (Duplicate post)

While I'm here - there have been a few indications of a change where I am. But, if I didn't have access to outside news, I'm guessing it would be imperceptible. In a way, I'm looking forward to the awakening. It will be messy in places for sure and could lead to chaos in some cases but its all part of life.

We've had a cold and record wet spring.

Talking to the owner of the feed store the other day, she said she is selling garden seed like nobody's business for this late in the year - and putting in a bigger garden of her own. She said the guy who owns the greenhouse in town came in and had been worried about business due to the weather but now can't keep up with demand...

but not for flowers.

A good place we chose I'm thinking.

I don't think it's quite time to assume the position to kiss the old patooty goodbye, but current conditions may indicate doing more than stocking up on Charmin.

I judge things now by the people I work with. Nobody is that concerned about things yet.....but in reality...they should be. As I mentioned on another thread, I will continue my prep's in silence!

This week did have an kind of a weird energy to it and it keeps getting stranger as we go. I am heading back out to my developing little urban farm and finishing up a few things. I'm close to where I want to be, but not quite there.
