World oil reserves are ending-myth or fact?

Unread postby rfopl » Thu 08 May 2008, 22:45:37

I think that if Oil was ending we would no be hogging it everyday at this point in time, don't you all?? If that was true, that oil is ending, it would only be used rationally despite being used like, by every one in the planet, we use, for example, clothes, don't you think?

what do you think about the theory that oil reserves are ending? myth or fact?

I see you as well as I have pondered this question.

Mankind has a history of plundering through resources as if it were a never ending resource. Whether it was the potatos which became a staple of the Irish before the potato famine, the trees across England before coal, or any number of extict species that were hunted out of existence.

I honestly belive the powers that be would rather milk every last dollar they can out of oil before they let on that its going to start decreasing in the next few years. If they were to come out and tell us the truth about the whole situation, the economy would collapse before they've had a chance to secure as much bounty as they can in the middle east.

This site is not about "oil reserves are ending", it's about the Hubbert peak of world oil production. Here's an excellent primer on the subject: http://www.energybulletin.net/primer.php Read that and if you have any questions we'd be glad to help answer them.

Not a very impressive first post. Consider mining the vast source of information that is this site before you post. Its fine to comment but first understand the issues.

This site is about the Peaking of World Oil production and its inevitable decline coupled with the problems and chaos which will result from mankind's inability to plan for it.

Now we have to impress you, dude, your insignificant. I thought it was a good question, why are we using a resource that is soon to be scarce in the most ridiculous manner. I mean church for instance, people are going to die because some retard needs to go visit the priest every sunday.

what do you think about the theory that oil reserves are ending? myth or fact?

Most people do not realise it is ending, hence it continues to be squandered. This is perfectly rational behaviour on the part of the ignorant.

I recommend you read the story of the passenger Pigeon. It was a bird so numerous that their flocks could darken the sky for 50 miles. Populations of these birds numbered in the billions. They were hunted and trapped extensively because they were seen as an endless resource. In a fairly short period of time the passenger pigeon went from a being a cheap abundant resource to completely extinct. The people at the time continued hogging the resource until it was gone. Oil will be the exact same way.

The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.
