I'm starting to wonder if this is going to be the year with no summer. Was snowing in Seattle last weekend. Latest it's ever snowed there in recorded history. Lots of snow in Montana this week too.

TIRED OF IT! [smilie=5cold.gif] :x

Yup. The fruit trees are finally blooming and we have some nice weather just in time.

I wonder if that ice age I've heard tell about is on the way? If so, some people will be very surprised.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'B')ased on this analysis we can say that there is a probability of 94% of imminent global cooling and the beginning of the coming ice age.

I don't know about the rest of you but I am getting cabin fever depression. I feel virtually trapped, the heat and water and food supply are fine, the books, internet and TV are available for distraction, but I can't go out for more than 20 min without risking frostbite no matter how many layers I wear.

You must not have the right clothes to wear out then?

I blame the blood pressure medication, been on it for 15 years and from dy one my hands get cold very easily even with double insulated gloves on. Of course if I skip the medication I risk sudden death from a stroke so that isn't something I risk lightly.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'S')ub, I used to feel sorry for you guys. But now with the drought life isn't so great out here anymore. It's heartbreaking to see 500-year old Valley Oak trees dying, all brown and shriveled. :( wait. it's raining! yeehaw. the artichokes are forming. LOL

All kidding aside, things could be worse. Spring will be GLORIOUS

Don't get me wrong, I like having four seasons, but we usually get one or two really cold weeks with a long break in between. This winter we have had about five arctic blast weeks and our longest break was less than a week, with rain.

I'm feeling a bit of cabin fever myself right now. Took this pic a couple hours ago:

Thoroughly socked in, doubt I'd be able to get my truck up the hill to the main road, and even if I did, there's an awfully steep hill down into town. I'm hunkering down for a while.

I've been vaguely considering relocating to Vermont or Maine, but after this snowstorm, I'm beginning to reconsider

That was down right theraputic! Just finished shoveling out the driveway once again, but this time the sky was blue, the sun is shining, the wind is slow and the temperature is a balmy 17F . I feel much better lol.

We normally have temperatures down to -17 celcius here in winter, but this winter we've only had about seven frosts and just the one day when it never got above freezing throughout the day. It bain't normal.
What we think, we become.

That is the most wonderful place I have ever seen. Ever since I was socked in the family home during some of the big snow storms in the 70's in PA, I've loved those abandoned in the wilderness in the snow episodes.

Enjoy!

My "man camp" looks more remote than it is, but the snow definitely gives a sense of isolation. I haven't seen a soul in 5 days. Kind of nice :)

The snow is starting to melt, but we had some freezing rain, so there's ice on top of the snow. Still not feeling brave enough to venture off the farm. We're in for warm temps and rain this week, though, so shouldn't last too much longer.

The extended isolation has brought to my attention some holes in my preps. Lots of stuff I need to stock up on, and cooking/heating/electricity/water alternatives I need to explore.
