...this is when you know things will be getting real bad. Is not the US the largest supplier of foreign aid, money wise and food wise?
Will this be the preamble to the rest of the world to 'look after yourself'?..

Hopefully others will be able to fill in if we crumble. I doubt it though. Eventually with the scarcity of resources it will be every nation for itself.

Foreign aid is a political tool, it only ends when the donor no longer wishes to exert influence. Although there may be redistribution resulting in net cuts as the global political scene changes, there is little chance of the US government ceasing to play for influence overseas. And the agricultural industry of the US is one of its strongest remaining cards.
