What makes you happy?

Unread postby roccman » Wed 09 Apr 2008, 10:25:40

Just a question...

Just pick one...most important or pick "other" and post that other (s).

My family and working at home on the homestead. Everything else I do in life is in someway in support of these things.

Getting absorbed in a task and forgetting about myself.

Doing this with my family is the best.

For some reason, I also find mowing the yard to be a very meditative experience.

Hi David:

I ski quite a bit here in Alaska (and sometimes in areas in the western US and in Europe when I can get there---I even checked out the San Francisco Peaks in your neck of the Arizona woods, but there was no snow that year so I went to Brian in southern Utah instead) but no way ever would I go near that jump shown in the picture.

Cheers! :)

How do people manage not to break their necks with skiing like that? I always wanted to know. If they don't then how many do break their necks?

The jumps in commercial ski areas are mostly a lot smaller then that (except at places like Taos) but there are still a fair share of broken wrists and such and the occasional death in almost every ski area. When you are skiing really really fast things happen really fast--. The last death in our local ski area occurred when a kid did a jump and fell backward when he landed, hitting his head hard.

The worst injury I've had skiing is a broken rib. I don't do any of that crazy stuff. I just love the skiing part.

The people who jump off cliffs and compete in the are super-athletes, but still can get into serious trouble. A world-class skier died last weekend here in Alaska when he got caught in an avalanche down near Valdez, Alaska where the World's extreme skiing championships take place and many of the crazy looking skiing photos get taken.

Happy? For me, its beating someone to death with the lawnmower that makes them happy.

Hanging clothes on the clothesline in the morning and biking/walking. These qualify as the "$20 in my pocket", so I have to work less and less (don't mind the job, but would rather do less).

Aerating the compost heap and watching all the cool bugs is pretty high on the list, too.

Walking in to a store, saying to myself, "there's not a damned thing I need", and walking back out makes me happy.

???

I doubt if that really makes you happy.

If you are saying it would make you happy to kill me, why don't you just say that?

If you're not saying that, please clarify what you ARE saying or be quiet.

This is a weird thread to get jacked on, just talking about what makes you happy.

My job. )that doesn't sound to good does it?

But I could say mountainbiking, snowboarding, windsurfing or mountainclimbing, which I really really like. I also love my guitars. I like travelling.

As a matter of fact there are tons of things that make me happy. But in the end it is my job which pays for most of them.

My job is something which I love doing. As an added bonus it pays for a lot off stuff that I like even more.

That makes me happy (and grateful) on a daily basis

Maybe mowing the lawn does make him happy. I suspect Whippet is just being an idiot though.
