Elements Of Ladder Theory

Introduction to the Ladder

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('IntellectualWhores.com', 'T')o make it clear here's an illustrative example of what really happens:

Bob Meets Jane
Then Bob Meets Connie

Now the ladder theory description goes like this:

Bob Meets Jane
Bob sizes her up based on the above criterion
Bob puts her on the ladder
Bob meets Connie
Bob sizes her up based on the above criterion
Bob puts her on the ladder above Jane

You can recognize this has gone on because Bob says " I'd like to fuck Jane, but not as much as I want to fuck Connie"

I think that everyone has heard this or something like it enough times for us to accept it as axiomatic and move on. You might be thinking, " Well what about Jane and Connie?" We'll get to them next...

I guess we have all made stabs at explaining male/female relations along these general lines. But this guy seems to have really knocked it out of the park.

It seems cynical but basically true. But why should it seem cynical if it's basically true? Shouldn't it just immediately make perfect sense to us without us thinking: "Gee, that's such a rank portrayal of human sexuality"?

You just discovered this? It's been around for a while, and has given Tom Leykis a career.

From the section of the website dealing with common criticisms:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'C')riticism:I have lots of male friends who would never think of me that way blah blah blah.

Answer:Your friend doesn't find you attractive, or he's currently doing better, or he's gay or you're wrong.

Criticism:That's not true

Answer:Yes it is.

Pretty rigorous arguments being deployed there. Anybody who disagrees is gay. And wrong. OK. When would you like to pick up your Noble?

So that is what I have been doing all these years.

Could this be like "Stairway to Heaven" ?
