I'm sure there is a good percentage of people who see them as different. But, I'm inclined to think that most people are more concerned about their life. (greedy , selfish, bastards). It seems like all the money in the world wont change that place. What else are we to do? How much does the UN give? How much do everyday Americans give? I bet its a pretty big penny. I saw blood diamond the other day. TIA.
Dont blame average Joe or Ivan or Lapue or Adolph or Wang for living the best life he can while the miseries in Africa continue.
I didn't mean it to sound like I was judging anyone. Very poor people have a very different culture to (probably) anybody here. So much so that it is very alien to many people. Myself included. Really, I cannot imagine trusting my life to the hope that someone might provide me with water, in return for something.
Obviously, my water is provided for me by the state in all its complexity, but the huge population levels and lack of energy infrastructure in poor countries make that trust in others far more...well....hopeful for want of a better word, I know I'll have water in the morning, they don't. Thats a part of the difference.
So I understand that it will probably happen here (in the rich west)because of peak oil and other things. It will be like our populations are increasing dramatically whilst our economy is shrinking, I understand it but can't imagine it.
