Better Memory= Better Grades?

Unread postby vuman » Thu 19 Jul 2007, 16:18:12

I just wanted to see what everyone's opinion about memory improvement courses are. The reason I am asking because I want to take some of these courses to improve my memory in order to do better in school. I have read that memorization is a key to learning and in reply I would think that if I could improve my memory I would be able to make my school year a lot easier on me. So I have done some research and found a couple of sites. Like the School of Phenomenal Memory and Dr. Bruno's course. I don't know if anyone has any experiences with either these or any other memory improvement course but any help would be great. Thanks.

eat raw food. Diet and excercise is the best for the brain. The brain thrives on raw fruits and vegetables. It also needs raw meat and protiens. If you do cook meat. Sear on both sides for 20 seconds to kill bacteria.

A good memory can help you get better grades, but it is also very helpful to have intelligent parents. Separated twin studies show that intelligence is strongly correlated with the intelligence of your genetic parents.

Hard work is also essential. People who can't remember what they just read in the textbook can improve their recall by reading it several times and taking notes on what is important.

What Holmes said. Good diet. And exercise. If you're doing math problems, take every 1/2 hour and do some push-ups or something. At least walk around.

Don't waste money on courses, you can find books on memory improvement in your library, and who cares if they're from the 1950s it's the same shit repackaged every few years. There ARE memory tricks that are useful and better memory DOES result in better grades.

Better memory does not necessarily mean better learning however better memory almost always does mean better grades.

Most courses these days can be aced with an effective cram/regurgitate/purge process. You don't actually know anything in the end but you usually get great grades.

Considering education these days consist of ringing bells constantly and rewarding the lab-rats who can recall disconnected information on command, a good memory will earn you better grades.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will definitely prosper from all your replies. Now my question though. is that will it be a waste of time to try and improve my memory through memory improvement courses like the School of Phenomenal Memory or Dr. Bruno's course. I mean I have started reading the website and I am getting a positive vibe from the School of Phenomenal Memory. While Dr. Bruno's site seemed like it needed a major update. But I am not taking any summer classes and I feel that I might be able to gain a little something from one of these courses. Thanks
