A team at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore examined 20 studies published in journals and looked at national surveys of weight and behavior for their analysis, published in the journal Epidemiologic Reviews.
"Obesity is a public health crisis. If the rate of obesity and overweight continues at this pace, by 2015, 75 percent of adults and nearly 24 percent of U.S. children and adolescents will be overweight or obese," Dr. Youfa Wang, who led the study, said in a statement.

You had me worried there for a minute Paddy, indeed I think over weight will be a minor problem ten years down the road from May 2005.

Thus the beauty of mindless projections of the future. Continuing at that rate we'll be 100% obese by mid century and exploding blobs of fat with appendages by 2100. We'll outweigh the planet a millenia from now.

The human body is shutting down now due to lack of environmental stimuli and dead food. It will come back after massive die off and maybe never will come back. Humanoid race is not looking good. The bloated hulks that comprise simple "everyday" "normal" people is horrifying to observe. All I see is carnage in the future. retreat further.

Those Reuters figures are only a bit higher than they are now (as a rule in the US, 2/3 overweight, 1/3 obese) and the US has a big enough war machine, that it may be able to keep the party going somehow for that long - of course it will make the crash later that much steeper...
