And your wondering how people can be so ill informed about peak oil and climate change?

BBC LINK via Grist.com

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he Linking Environment And Farming organisation found that 22% of 1,073 adults questioned did not know bacon and sausages originate from farms ... The survey also found four in 10 people did not know yoghurt is made using farm produce, nearly half were unaware the raw ingredients for beer start off in farmers' fields and 23% did not know bread's main ingredients came from the farm.

Er.. I wonder how you can be so ignorant about the simple fact that PeakOil and Climate Change are mutually exclusive?

Are we running out of oil as ASPO warn us?

Or do we have all the oil we wish for another hundred years as IPCC tells us?

Disgusting avatar btw. Juvenile attempt to make an impression, I dare to guess.

What does that have to do with the topic, or are you ignorant to that too? Get a basic education on climate change and we can talk about it.

Will you get some basic education on PeakOil then? You dont seem to have it, although you seem to be a frequent poster on this site.

Avoided comment for a couple of months. The entire thing is just embarrassing.

What about the core issue then? Do you believe in in CERA or ASPO? Or maybe even the IPCC?

MacG:

Look, when you going to give up trolling this same old argument, which I and many others have responded to before? I see you’re trying to pick this same fight else ware on the forum today.

You must have had a bad day, and need some confirmation. My advice is to take an aspirin and come back when you feel better so you can keep on topic.

I would argue that it's a good thing that so many people don't know where their food comes from. Will make it much easier to feed the world when people don't insist on everything being "natural".

I would also argue that more people than surveyed don't know where their food comes from. More and more foods are GM, and people generally don't have a clue what exactly this means, beyond it somehow being "unnatural".

Heck, even people eating the food they grow themselves often don't really know where their food came from! It didn't come from nature, it's actually the result of thousands of years of genetic manipulation in the form of artificial selection. Ain't no such thing as natural, unless you are a hunter gatherer.

Cross-breeding and selecting based on certain traits is still working within the bounds of nature. Humans and other animals do this when they select breeding partners.

Gene-splicing such as is done in GMO foods is COMPLETELY different. No amount of cross-breeding and selection is going to get animal genes into plants.
