I have a ten page paper due in two days. It is on the 1920's. Specifically, what changed as a result of the economic boom? How did certain groups react negatively to these changes? How do the events and trends of the 20's parallel those of the 90's and 00's? I have plenty of ideas. I have formulated sentences and paragraphs in my head. I have even found a way to tie in peak oil and our current, reckless consumption.
I can't do it. I haven't even started (not counting research). I have pulled three all-nighters this semester. One of them, I didn't even get the paper done. I just slacked off the whole night.
What the hell is wrong with me? Please venture a guess.

I always do school work last minute. I'm a great procrastinator. I know procrastination isn't the greatest thing to do, but I'm able to stay up pretty late.

Seriously? You're not particularly interested in the subject of the research report. People spend lots of time, and lots of effort on things they care about; they avoid doing things they don't care about.
This is often the problem with general curriculum type courses - students don't perceive any benefit from the material.
Perhaps the best solution is to find something about the subject that engages your interest. The 1920's are a fascinating example of a boom time followed by an economic crash. Which is, by the way, a lot like some Peak Oil scenarios....

You have laws from that time. You have words like 'Fall Guy' (Hint: Teapot dome scandel - bribery) You have the change from burning whale oil to dead dinos.
The laws came about from 'unfettered capitolism' and the 'buying of politions'
You have the concentration of wealth via bankers. After the stock market speculation via borrowing money
Far worse in Germany however.
Environmental changes, changes in law, "setting the stage" to the next war.
How about tracking "Smedley Butler" and what he was doing back then. Because if you have to write a paper for the 1930's - Mr. Butler has a 'unique' experience - one your teacher is unlikely to cover.

Speaking of something that is really uninteresting I find life science really boring. Right now I'm taking a break from my AP biology work.

You must have some really lousy teachers and/or curriculum for Life Sciences to be made boring - The sheer scope of the subject alone gives room for myriad areas of interest IF finding them is encouraged.
I shouldn't criticize them without contributing a suggestion, so - you might well enjoy "Arctic Dreams" by the renowned ecologist Barry Lopez - it addresses historic and present interactions between native & colonial peoples with the creatures of the arctic. Life on the edge. Some excellent perceptions in it.
