Pole wakes from 19-year coma in democratic country

"Now I see people on the streets with cell phones and there are so many goods in the shops it makes my head spin."

It would be more of a shock to wake up from a coma some 20 years into a Kunstler-esque Long Emergency, having gone to sleep at the peak of cheap energy. Especially if the transition is brutal.

That's assuming of course the coma patient doesnt require much in the way of advance care to stay alive...
