I ride my bike. I pass a Geo metro - since I've just eaten a lot of beans, I fart. Geo Metro speeds up for a bit. That's always puzzled me, but not any longer!

A friend and I got all the way from Illinois to D.C. on just two tanks of gas in a Geo metro back in the day. It's mileage is great.

Pretty cool, I watched the film of them sliding around in the snow, hilarious!

Yeah, probably would be just as much fun with bikes or sleds or something, but fun's fun.

Aerodynamic modifications can significantly improve the fuel economy of Geo Metros:

metrompg.com

I've always been fond of taking the gas engine out of one and slipping a 10-15 horsepower diesel tractor engine in one. 60-65 mph top speed and instant 80+ mpg while able to be run on waste fryer oil, although acceleration will be painfully slow. With aero mods and LRR tires, could jump into the 100+ mpg region, with a slight top speed increase.

Need more power? A VW Golf TDi is what you need. That would make for a 60+ mpg evil Metro with 0-60 mph < 7 seconds.

An ex-friend of mine had a metro.

That thing would go a million miles on a gallon of gas.

We took it on snowmobile trails in norther wisconsin

We took it on 4wd roads in Canada near Lake Superior.

We took it on snow covered lakes in Minnesota. when it got stuck, you lifted the front out of the hole.

We drove it numerous times on the ice road in Lake Superior.

He hauled bricks piled along the floorboards with it

He hauled engine pieces by taking the passenger seat out.

He pulled timber down gravel roads with it.

He cracked the engine block by leaving wintertime cardboard in front of the grill.

Personally, I'm not surprised it died.
