A friend of mine heard recently on a radio show someone that called in and had a dream where the Bushes, Rockefellers and such had decided on Schwarzenegger for our next President.
The second I heard it I realized it wasn't such a crazy idea. These current guys have practically ripped chunks out of the Constutution, a little change to allow Schwarzenegger to be eliagible to run is minor enough.
I think it's a great sell to the sheep. Arnold's also an enviornmental nut which fits well with the plan.
What say you all...could this be our '08 election surprise?

Not unless they pass a constitutional amendment in the next five minutes.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Loki', 'N')ot unless they pass a constitutional amendment in the next five minutes.
What does that mean? There's plenty of time until the election and a constitutional amendment could be passed pretty quick.

Umm...right.
We couldn't get ERA passed back in the 1970s and they even extended the bill for an extra 5 years!
The amendment would have required equal rights for women. The amendment passed overwhelmingly in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. But when it came time for 3/4 of the states to ratify it, it died. Women make up the majority of the population and the amendment, which was widely supported, died on the steps of the Alabama, Florida, Utah, Virginia, South Dakota, etc. state houses.
Please explain to me how a bill that would be widely opposed could somehow pass in 3/4 of the state legislatures.
If my state even began to consider passing a "Let Foreigners Run For President" amendment, I'd be sending a rather strongly-worded letter to my congressmen and senators.
I'm sorry, there's just not a snowball's chance in hell of that amendment EVER passing.
Lastly, passing constitutional amendments takes many years and we simply do not have enough time.
