10 Million (wo)man march on D.C.

Unread postby cynicalheretic » Wed 07 Feb 2007, 11:19:40

What would it take to organize a 10 million person march on D.C. in a anti-war demonstration? Also with that many people would it be possible to invade D.C. and break down the gates at the whitehouse and just carry Bushy out of office?

That would really be an incredible feat...not impossible. That's how we made America. :)

Also it wouldn't be long before the tear gas starts getting fired into the crowd. And if there's guns...they'll just bring out bigger guns.

Gas Masks are not really all that expensive. It would take a lot of troops to quell a group that large, though our nice little government would probably consider it an act of terrorism if that many people marched.

One possibility I wish would happen is that everyone just doesn't go to work for an intire week, not feasable really, but would be cool.

How many people does it take to skip work to cause an economic collapse? How many days and people?

Try not to suggest doing anything by the way, or this thread will get deleted.

Why would it get deleted, I am not suggesting anyone do anything illegal.. Isn't this kind of a social activism site anyway?

BTW... It depends on the sector, like lets say everyone working at a power plant went on strike... or something to that effect then it would be far more damaging to our economy.

Oh there was some dude that came here like a month ago and said there was going to be a huge rally in front of the white house or something with weapons. That was deleted.

I'm not sure about the details of the power grid to be honest. I remember in 2003 something happened at Niagra Falls and major cities in the northeast were out of power for a long time (maybe 36-48 hours).

It wouldn't take too much to bring the US to its need, so that it can finally listen to its citizens.

I think they deleted that post, because the person was talking about what was deemed illegal activity and Peakoil.com was just protecting itself from getting shut down.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Stratovarius', '.')..it wouldn't be long before the tear gas starts getting fired into the crowd. And if there's guns...they'll just bring out bigger guns.

They do not possess guns big enough to defeat 10 million small guns.

Unfortunately, millions of Americans are so foolish they do not own even one gun.

My kids spend a lot of time playing World of Warcraft. I don't know very much about that game, but I bet it's better training for running an insurgency than I ever got.

Eastlake, Ohio, not Niagra Falls.

2003 Blackout

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'F')indings
On February, 2004, the U.S.-Canada Power System Outage Task Force released their final report placing the main cause of the blackout on FirstEnergy Corporation's failure to trim trees in part of its Ohio service area. The report said that a generating plant in Eastlake, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, went off-line amid high electrical demand, and strained high-voltage power lines later went out of service when they came in contact with "overgrown trees". The cascading effect that resulted ultimately forced the shutdown of more than 100 power plants.

Not really. World of Warcraft just leads to delusions of entitlement. What you really want to get them playing is something like Counterstrike, or that one made by the Army.

Oh. I thought it was a game where people banded together and practiced the Craft of engaging in War, thus the name.

I would sit down and look at it sometime, but they hiss at me when I approach the computer while they are playing. Someone is menstrating at my house every day of the month, so I go sit in the yard and look at trees. :)

Battlefield 2 is great for long-range sniper shooting.
I love the G36 rifle! (wish I owned a real one)

Not really. Sure, people band together to fight, but it's not anything like the name might lead you to believe. There's lots of slaying monsters and casting spells and whatnot. About the only useful skill your kids might be learning is how to STFU and listen to whomever is in charge. Not that it's a bad skill to learn, but 9 times out of 10, that person in charge is a 15 year old kid himself who's only goal is to steal all of the treasure and sell it on eBay.

At least Counterstrike can teach useful skills like small-unit tactics and at least a cursory familiarity with weapons that actually exist. None of that +99 sword of demonslaying crap.

You should take a hard look some time. Not that there's anything wrong with the game itself, but it's certainly not what the name implies to us "old folks".
