As long as politicians also don't want their misbehavior tracked, cash (or other anonymous money) isn't going anywhere. Drug dealers aren't going to put their congressman kickbacks on American Express.

Where I'm from cash always is faster than credit/debit cards. Always. If I see some stupid fuck pull out the credit card I make an audible sigh so they look at me.

It's funny how we care about such small amounts of time wastage.. only when we are waiting. But we're fine wasting it everywhere else.

I much prefer plastic over paper. And checks? Now those piss me off. And it's always some stupid old woman writing them, one letter per second, if you're lucky. Then she has to pull out the damn coupons...

Now when it comes time to purchase tons of fertilizer, or renting large moving trucks, it's always done in cash...

I saw that commercial a few weeks ago. I found it to be a burr in this Burro's saddle.

I wonder what the conga would look like in a rolling blackout?

I don't see anything wrong with a cashless society so long as the government obeys the constitution and respects personal property ownership.

Goldbugs like to stockpile gold, but I maintain that it really dosn't make much sense to stockpile cash or gold. Invest your money into appreciating assets, they give a much better return than gold. Gold may hold it's inflation adjusted value now, but will that still be the case after a severe economic colapse. Stalain said that grain was the best currency and I tend to agree with him when the going gets tough. You can't eat gold and it won't house you either.

IMO-I just see too much potiential for abuse. Seems like we are headed to place where every part of our lives will have a electronic trail.

Used to be that when I got paid, I would deposit a small amount in the bank, and take the rest as cash, for the week's needs, and so forth. I would see the teller maybe once every week at most.

Who here actually recieves a paycheque anymore?

Everything is direct deposit, and debit transactions now. Who wins? The banks. OMFG...do you know how much cash they rake in from transaction fees? Imagine everytime you withdraw cash from the machine..or use debit...a dollar goes to the bank. Sounds like chump change right?

It is a HUGE bonus for them.

Add to that the fees the retail operations pay for the use of the debit service.

Nevermind the 10 bucks a month they charge you a month for giving them your business. (I don't have $1000 to park in a bank account so I can avoid service charges)

It's a consumer fraud. I don't think the government will be paying any mind to the service charge gouging that takes place.

My last job, I asked to paid in cheque form...they looked at me like I was a fricking nutcase.

I don't think there is any mass conspiracy to make sure that all the consumers must have bank accounts...bank cards...etc. for some nefarious world domination plot.

It just happens that in the banks zeal to squeeze every last nickel from you, we are going to a place where it's pretty hard to operate outside the banks' purview. Or the governments'.

Vive le CASH!

We are being nickel and dimed to death by the banks.

I try to withdraw a full amount of cash for a 2 week period, but I still find myself using debit.

Worrying about the banks tracking your transactions is nothing. They want a piece of every transaction we conclude. That's why they want a cashless society.

You nailed it! The cia will never get a "real" audit. There is so much more money in circulation than you can believe, M3 is just a dog and pony show, these people are the banks for christ sakes, don't you think they would take advantage of this.

Just another way the rich stay rich. Think about the easiest business to build if you had capital. It would be a bank. Maybe not now though, because there are too many conglomerates, but 50 years ago? Yes, 100 years ago? Definitely.

You pretty much pay banks to hold your money, like they are doing you a favor. Sure there are some investment accounts (which you get screwed on, they make more money on loans), but for the majority of people they can barely keep the number in the account above $0 for a week to save any of it.

Who would have got in on the federal reserve bank when private members were joining? Yes please.

I have never noticed that people have passport numbers, or credit card numbers, or national insurance numbers, on their right hand or foreheads.

To date the re-unification of Israel as a state has been the biggest sign.

File that under "has happened"
