Inteview is over. If you listened I was the Jason that called in (the Sloan Ranger is a good friend of mine).

I will try and get him to post an MP3 of the interview and post a link to it.

Not directly oil/energy related, but macro economic scary on a very high level.

Sorry if off topic (I knew about the interview about 10 minutes before the show started, figured some might be interested).

Here's a link to the radio show with the interview.

http://sloanrangershow.com/mp3/wgnu2006Dec14_17-00.mp3

He starts talking about the interview at 11:15 in the clip (it's the entire hour of the radio show). He talks about currency issues up until the interview.

The interview itself starts at about 22:00.

As well, here's a USA today article discussing this deficit topic, which includes the reasoning the government doesn't perform accrual accounting (which all corporations are required to do):

http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/ne ... rt_dom.htm

The Bush administration opposes including Social Security and Medicare in the audited deficit. Its reason: Congress can cancel or cut the retirement programs at any time, so they should not be considered a government liability for accounting purposes.

Take that to mean: Once Social Security and Medicare get to expensive they will be cancelled...

Thanks for the link.

I don't see these entitlements going away though, they'll do what they've always done; print the money.

"In fact, according to the Fed, a majority of retired Americans already rely on Social Security for 80% or more of their income. And that makes Social Security and Medicare politically untouchable, no matter how badly the programs trap the U.S. economy."

I agree actually, and that sets up the hyperinflation that John Williams believes will occur. It is good to point out that the programs "could" be cancelled, most people wouldn't know that I don't think (oridinary people).

It's going to be fun party...

And the 2006 Federal document John basis his deficit info off of was released today:

That's a great excuse though, sounds like something I would have come up with as a kid. No you see, I don't count car payments in my budget planning because I could just stop paying at anytime. And uh, I think I'll pull health care payments out too and wow, what do you know, I've got an A+++ credit rating!

Don’t stop there, you can take lessons from the epitome of financial knowledge, the FED. Leave out food and energy; you don’t really need those, and while you’re at it, include, if you own your our own home, what you pay the bank each month as income! Remember, you are paying yourself rent. If you pay close attention to the maestros of financial wizardry, you can make yourself a fabulously rich person in no time. It certainly worked for them!
