Das Rheingold (The Ring of the Nibelung) by Richard Wagner

================
Peak Oil Version
================

After building the Castle Valhalla for the First World Gods, the giants China and India demanded that Odin to keep his end of the bargain. Odin had promised the brother giants China and India that they shall receive Sandy Arabia, the goddess of Energy in return for building Valhalla. A contract had been carved unto the spear of Odin.

Thor the God of thunder and Balder the God of spring, springs forth to protect their sister Sandy Arabia but Odin stops them as he has a contract with the giants. Loki the half mortal half God, arrives and inform the Giants that the Gnome of Zurich had stolen the Rheingold and has made a powerful Magic Ring. The so called One Ring that would give the wearer unspeakable political power over people.

The giants China and India immediately lust after the One Ring instead and held the Goddess Sandy Arabia hostage until Odin paids them the ransom of the "One Ring" for her return.

As only the Goddess Sandy Arabia can produce the much famed golden apples. The apples which had kept the First World Gods eternally young and strong.

With the absence of Sandy Arabia, the Gods begin to age and weaken. In order to restore Sandy Arabia, Odin is forced to follow Loki into the depths of the Third World in search of the One Ring.

At the depths of the Third World, Odin and Loki has found that the AbleRich the chief Gnome of Zurich has enslaved all within his domain. AbleRich has forced his own brother Mime to create a magic stealth suit that makes the wearer invisible.

Odin and Loki arrives and stumble upon Mime who told them that AbleRich forging of the One Ring and the misery of the Nibelung under his rule. AbleRich returns, driving his corporate slaves to pile up a huge mound of gold. When they have finished, he dismisses them and turns his attention to the two visitors. He boasts to them about his plans to rule the First World. Loki tricks him into demonstrating the magic of the stealth suit by having him transform into a snake , then a toad. When he's transformed into the toad, the two gods quickly binded him, and bring him back to the First World.

On the First World, Odin and Loki forced AbleRich to ransom his gold for his own freedom. After all the gold had been brought to the First World, he asked for the return of the stealth suit but Loki said it was part of the ransom. As a final insult Odin demand the One Ring as ransom, AbleRich refuses but Odin took it from him by force and immediately put it on his own finger. As soon as the One Ring was on Odin's finger, Odin began to form plans to keep the ring for himself.

As all the ransom was paid, AbleRich was once again a free person. In hateful spite, he cursed the Ring.

May it bring death to it's owner!
May it rob him of joy and gladness!
May it waste him to death with worry!
May it cause others to envy the owner!
All shall desires it but none will find pleasure in it!
He who prossesses it shall guard it jealously
and only to be murdered for it.
To be marked for death.
To be imprisoned by fear.
And pray that his days of despair shall end.

And the LORD OF THE RING shall be the slave of the ring.

Odin and Loki arrives back with their loot. And the giants China and India returns with Sandy Arabia. Reluctant to release Sandy, India insists that there must be enough gold to hide her from view. They pile up the gold, and Odin is forced to relinquish the stealth suit to help cover Sandy completely. However, India spots a final crack in the gold, and demands that Odin yield the One Ring. Odin refuses, and the giants prepares to leave with Sandy Arabia instead.

Suddenly, Gaia the earth goddess, the world's wisest woman, appears out of the ground. She warns Odin of impending doom (Twilight of the Gods), and urges him to avoid the cursed Ring. Troubled, Odin reluctantly surrenders the One Ring and thus gains the freedom of Sandy Arabia. The giants start dividing the treasure, but they argue over the ownership of the One Ring. China clubs India to death for the One Ring, and thus leaves with all the loot. Odin, horrified, realizes that AbleRich's curse has truly terrible power.

I couldn't figure out why this was in the Psychology forum, so I moved it to Open Discussion.
