I'm a little curious about the other information sources you use. I've thought about posting a link to this site from the other oil forums I go to. I've been active in a meetups.com oil awareness group in the LA area as well.

Do you do this kind of thing in your area? I wonder how much we all talk about this kind of thing with our friends and family.

I got the opportunity to speak to a 12th grade class today, and I of course worked it in to the questions. A kid asked about whether hybrid cars will take care of the energy crisis, and I just said... no. The use of hybrid cars ignores the problem. How great is that? I just spoke on the topic in front of 30 kids in the gifted program at a high school, and they had questions for me. They were aware of the problem, and were curious about what they could do.

This is very encouraging to me! A class of mostly Hispanic kids in a poor neighborhood knew about the energy crisis! If you knew LA like I did, I would maybe expect to hear this out of the kids in Orange County or maybe West LA, but this was in Pacoima! This was a good day today.

I think that people like ourselves are the quickest answer to educating our neighborhoods and surrounding areas. The more we talk about this, the more the word gets out. The kids get their news from the Internet now anyway, and they're used to getting information this way.

That said, I wonder how much overlap there is in the information sources we consult. What else do you use?
