CNN's Tucker Carlson, Jon Stewart Feuding
Anyone else see this? I wish I had gotten the chance to view it live. He went right after Paul "Kermit the Frog" Begala and Tucker "the Dick" Carlson. Wow, someone who is unafraid of asking the tough questions while openly media fluff and stupidity. I think he should have a free copy of "End of Suburbia" sent his way.

P.S: There's actually a blurb about the looming energy crisis in the Daily Show's satirical America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction. I am going to have to buy a copy now to boost sales.

I saw it. I love Jon Stewart. Yesterday, Tucker Carlson was still whining about the drubbing he took.

I think Jon truly hurt his feelings. Tucker wasn't witty enough to respond to Jon's insults, so he just continued to wear that stupid, shit-eating grin on his face. One of the funniest parts of the show was the fact that the audience was laughing. [/quote]

"Nations with excess capacity need to produce more"

Unread postby Drewdog » Thu 28 Apr 2005, 21:01:53

Did anyone listening to this Bush news conference?

When Bush was pressed in a follow up question with regards to the oil crisis by one of the press, he was asked something like "if an energy bill is passed, how would that directly effect gas prices?" Bush replied that "nations with excess capacity need to produce more"!!! Ah, ok who Dubbah?

I just can't believe the crap Im hearing. He answers have no substance.

Excess capacity is the new WMD. Bush will say that Iran and Venezuela have it and refuse to produce more oil. So the good old USA needs to bring them some democracy courtesy of shock & awe; cluster bombs, poison gas, phosphorus, and napalm. Tehran and Caracas will be the new Fallujas.

Oil Prices on Daily Show

Unread postby Such » Tue 31 May 2005, 23:16:56

THey had a bit on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart about the price of oil that was hysterical. They "interviewed" Daniel Yergin... who did not look very amused with the shenanigans the Daily Show pulled. Poor guy, he did give some fantastic reaction shots though.

Why do people agree to be interviewed for that show anyway? Don't they know they're gonna take it up the butt?

Gerald Posner is the special guest on this episode, he's hawking his book "Secrets of the Kingdom"... talked about 9/11 and said there is a connection between oil and the politics that lead to that event. He told a quick story about the "special relationship" between the US and Saudi Arabia and managed to lay out how this developed to our present situation.. And he did it in about 5 minutes.
He also talked about vulnerabilities in the oilfield infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and tried to emphasize that the West is totally dependant on the 10 million barrels of oil a day coming out of that country.

You know... it's strange that a fake news show gives you better news than the real ones... go figure.

Why do people grant the interview you ask.

Interesting question. Most grant interviews, but have an employee that acts as a liason with the press. A communications representitive. If he doesn't then he didn't do what someone not looking for this would do.

However I have no clue as to what the interview request,... and the "following contract" do say. Two different things.

The true nature of the interview (first airing) can be hidden in verbage, or they could be upfront and the peope just don't catch it.

You may think someone from nbc is coming to interview you, but you may not have paid attention to all the "release" information availble by granting the interview, but it may have buried the true nature under a "bunch of pages".

network initials for some egos are just to much to pass up.

Why you should wonder about how much effort and thought they put into their work.

my two cents

The Daily Show is a VERY popular program, especially among the teenage, college, and young adult crowds. I can see why someone would jump at the chance to plant some propaganda in their brains!

Problem is, few of them have much in the way of a sense of humor. If they could give as well as they get from Stewart, viewers would respect that, and maybe actually LISTEN to what they say. Guess it's a good thing they lack humor, huh?

The part where he uses a car to traverse a rather short distance is hilarious (won't say more or I'll spoil it).

Jon Stewart's take on Bush energy policy...

Unread postby emersonbiggins » Thu 11 Aug 2005, 15:31:05

Link to Quicktime Video Clip - The Daily Show
Fraught with a little ambivalence about the future of nuclear and coal, Stewart does a take on the unveiling of Bush's energy initiatives.
This is from a couple of months back, but it's good.

If things really do get "that bad", one of the saddest things for me will be losing Jon Stewart. He's one of the good guys.
