First: Birds. Now: Dogs. Are people next?

Unread postby Zardoz » Fri 04 Aug 2006, 09:59:59

I shivered a little when I saw this:

Once you get accustomed to the concept, it opens up all sorts of possibilities...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '.')..controversial mass cull...

Far-fetched?

Maybe. Maybe not.

Maybe Zardoz, things will get much stranger as we go on in this clusterfuck.

"PETA called for a boycot of chinese products."

Fucking hell, from Chinas' record on animal treatment they would have to be calling for one about every 15 seconds. Sorry PETA, consumers have voted and animals come far below plastic junk.

I'm not eating Chinese anymore. Kill 50,000 dogs by beating them to death in front of their owners? How quaint. 3 dead humans died of rabies, so what. Bastards. China needs to be culled period. Screw Wal-Mart. I'm going to go warmonger for a day. Nuke China!

Um isn't this the same country which skins dogs alive for their fur? So why would this surprise us at all? Oh yes also the "execution of a political prisoner on demand to sell the organs to the highest bidder"... lovely. Most favored trading nation yup yup yup..

Yes.. Farfetched if you're thinking of humans . The rest is just fluffy Anglo-Saxon sentimentalism in action. We have a soft spot for certain animals, especially our horses and dogs, which we see more as partners than food. Its not something South East Asians suffer from. Their attitude to animals is generally more pragmatic and less sentimental - if it moves, eat it.

Understandable in a region which has seen many major famines with millions dead in its recent history. - you have to go back to the Irish Potoato famine to find anything similar in Anglo-American history.

If we were talking about cows or pigs here - which get routinely slaughtered in their millions worldwide every day - this would not be news. Americans treatment of cattle in feedlots and pigs and poultry in intensive rearing blocks is everything as bad as anything the CHinese do to their animals.

A Californian feed lot from space.[/url]
Zoom in for a closer look. Thousands of cattle standing in pools of their own piss and shit, out in the open, no shelter form the sun anywhere, being fed on soya from Amazonia and waiting to be turned into Big Macs.

As far as killing method... the Chinese obviously have taken a leaf out of the Canadians books. The Canadians have been mass culling seals by whacking them over the head since the 16th century.

Last year I'm sure the canadian government justified the seal cull by saying that the seals where eating too much fish that should instead be used to feed humans.

Not far fetched at all but substitute one bullet to the head for beating over the head... Of course they killed a LOT more than 50,000... 20-30 million if you include engineered starvation. Some great leap forward chairman Mao...

Sorry... I thought we were considering the likelyhood of the current CHinese or American governments mass culling their respective populations. I doubt it. The Chinese need people to make Nike's (and just about every other consumer durable you see in Wal-Mart) for the rest of the world, CHinese fertility is now down below long term replacement level (2.1) at 1.73 children per woman. (Source CIA factbook) China's population will eventually top out then decline.
No problem with excess people there then. India and certain African countries is where population is exploding.

...and The US population would be either stable or falling slightly if it were not for immigration - so no need for a mass cull there either. Compared to many othe countries (including the UK , where we have 60 million in a space slightly smaller than Oregon) the US population density is quite low.
