What Do You Tell Your Daughter?

I've told them all about peakoil. But there is much more. I once told her, "I don't need to know". She blushed and her mother was amazed. The girl was thrilled by my saying that. I'm a pretty good dad, and I generally know what to do. Now she want's me to make a Bob Dylan tape for her. Here's an interesting one:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')ell me, I've got to know.
Tell me, tell me before I go.
Does that flame still burn? Does that fire still glow?
Or has it died out and melted like the snow.
Tell me.
Tell me.

Tell me, what are you focused upon?
Tell me what I'll know better when you're gone.
Tell me quick with a glance on the side.
Shall I hold you close?
Or Shall I let you go by?
Tell me.
Tell me.

Are you looking at me and thinking of somebody else?
Can you feel the heat and the beat of my pulse?
Do you have any secrets that will come out in time?
Do you lie in bed and stare at the stars?
Is your main friend an acquaintance of ours?
Tell me.
Tell me.

Tell me, do those neon lights blind your eyes?
Tell me, behind what door your treasure lies.
Ever gone broke in a big way?
Ever gone the opposite of what the experts say?
Tell me.
Tell me.

Is it some kind of game that you're playin' with me.
Am I imagining something that never can be?
Do you have any morals?
Do you have any point of view?
Do you long to ride on that old ship of Zion?
What means more to you, a lap dog or a dead lion?
Tell me.
Tell me.

Tell me, is my name in your book?
Tell me, should I come back and take another look?
Tell me the truth, tell me no lies.
Are you someone, anyone?
Tell me.
Tell me.

I like Bob Dylan. Wonderful artist. If you can download, listen to his song , "One Too Many Mornings". I know you like him too, Pops.

A nice song:

Close your eyes, close the door,
You don't have to worry any more.
I'll be your baby tonight.

Shut the light, shut the shade,
You don't have to be afraid.
I'll be your baby tonight.

Well, that mockingbird's gonna sail away,
We're gonna forget it.
That big, fat moon is gonna shine like a spoon,
But we're gonna let it,
You won't regret it.

Kick your shoes off, do not fear,
Bring that bottle over here.
I'll be your baby tonight.

Sons, actually.

Whenever possible I try and get the kids to understand where everyday things actually comes from, especially at the dinner table.

How did you know I’d read this, PM?

I told my daughter to read the intro A. asked me to write before it was uploaded to PO.com way back a couple years ago.

She didn’t finish before she said; “I don’t want to know!”

Her husband is going to play in the sand next week I think. I said he will probably have some other places to go considering what I hear on the news.

She said; “I don’t want to know!”

I tell her, “I love you”

She says, “Love you too...”

I'm trying to say to you pops, that I care about what you think and I don't want to be a nonsense joke to you. Sure, I'm playing this whole thing in a weird way, but I see what's up and it scares me too. BTW, I'm listening to some grand music tonight and ten days is good enough to purify my liver. 8) God bless the music!

There is a profound question regarding creativity. A creative soul has to tell (implicitly) others what to do so that they so they can stew in it, cause we've got it. I've brought this up in the psychology forum under a titlle "envy". I have 6000+ posts to prove what I'm talking about. You doubt me, go back and look at what I've done! :-D Sneer if you like, but you can't beat John Lee Hooker? Ego is good, if you've got the goods. Eric Dolphy, Miles Davis, John Lennon, etc.

Me too, try this:

arly one day the sun wouldn't shine
I was walking down the street not feeling too fine
I saw two old men with a bottle between 'em
And this was the song that I heard them singing

Lord preserve us and protect us,
We've been drinking whiskey 'fore breakfast

Well I stopped by the steps where they was sitting
And I couldn't believe how drunk they were getting
I said "old men, have you been drinking long?"
They said "just long enough to be singing this song"

Lord preserve us and protect us,
We've been drinking whiskey 'fore breakfast

Well they passed me the bottle and I took a little sip
And it felt so good I just couldn't quit
I drank some more and next thing I knew
There were three of us sitting there sining this tune

Lord preserve us and protect us,
We've been drinking whiskey 'fore breakfast

One by one everybody in the town
They heard our ruckus and they all came down
And pretty soon all the streets were ringing
With the sound of the whole town laughing and singing

Lord preserve us and protect us,
We've been drinking whiskey 'fore breakfast

Lord preserve us and protect us,
We've been drinking whiskey 'fore breakfast
