Does the media only focus on light sweet crude prices?

The media is always reporting the record high gas prices for crude. But all I ever hear about is the price of light sweet crude. Why dont we hear the price for other types of crude? Is light sweet the major driving force? Is it what is predominatly used?

focusing on light sweet crude is GOOD

because light sweet crude will PEAK first and bring peak oil to the attention of the masses.

light sweet is covered the most because it's what we use the most.

Heavy sour can only be refined by a small percentage of facilities out there so we tend to ignore it.

They are right when they say that we'll never run out of oil. They just neglect to mention that we really can't use a lot of it and the good stuff is rapidly depleting.
