$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')url=http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2006/03/11/catholic_charities_stuns_state_ends_adoptions/]Catholic Charities stuns state, ends adoptions (link)[/url]

In a stunning turn of events, Archbishop Sean P. O'Malley and leaders of Catholic Charities of Boston announced yesterday that the agency will end its adoption work, deciding to abandon its founding mission, rather than comply with state law requiring that gays be allowed to adopt children.

What if that wasn't the real reason? What if they don't want to admit to financial hardships due to the collapse? In any case they probably think that being spoiled brats will make the world do whatever they want. I hope this disgrace backfires on them.

When they get all abortions outlawed adoption will be the best chance the resulting children have. If Catholics don't want to participate in easing the consequences of their actions so be it. Other public agencies can do the job without the prejudice.

I hope there is a backlash from Catholics over this.

I'm not a big fan of The Church and anything that hurts the credibility of that organization is good in my book.
