maybe they heard the rupport / corsi debate and now believe in abiotic oil. lol. On a more serious note, with oil approaching $ 65.00 and heading up because of the iran conflict, the price at the pumps should start to go up soon. probably around $ 2.50 per gallon unless iran does something crazy like taking 2 mbpd off the market if sanctions are implemented, then who knows where the price goes. $3.00 + im sure

I have seen about a about $0.20 increase since the beginning of the new year. With oil at $63 it could rise and $0.50 to the $2.70 range based on oil. I think there is some type of price controlls still in effect from Katrina.

Here is a fun msn web site that shows the average price of gas in each state as well as the national average versus the average from a year ago.

tp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9317029/

Looks like gas has been ticking up recently, following the trends of the oil barrel price. There does seem to be mitigating factors such as abundant gasoline supplies created once katrina refineries came back on board as well as an influx of european reserves to help stabilize the costs. But if oil stays high, gas will rise to similar Katrina heights again.

Gas prices are really wonky around here. Usually, there's at most a 5 cent difference in prices at the various gas stations. Today, I noticed the Getty station was charging $2.27/gallon, while the Mobil station was charging $2.57/gallon. Very odd. I can't figure out why there's such a big difference.
