I saw an ad on the side of a bus today. It was from Jiffy Lube, a chain that changes your oil in 30 minutes. They were telling people to come in for an efficiency check of their cars to save gas.

Aside from the irony of seeing the ad on the side of public transit, it was remarkable to me that some businesses are taking things seriously enough to go to these lengths.

Anyone else notice these type of services or ads?

I rather think it's more due to the fact that saving gas is what the consumers want, rather than any intelligent analysis of future fuel scarcity. It's simply the new meme, the new "fashion" that everyone has to emulate. Just like Joe Consumer, who's really only concerned with paying $100 at the pump to fill up, not realizing that before long that will be considered cheap (if not impossible).
