The GOV. is going to crack down on illegals?

Crack down?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', ' ')"Our goal at DHS (Homeland Security) is to completely eliminate the 'catch and release' enforcement problem, and return every single illegal entrant, no exceptions.

Illegal immigration crack down as a political tool could win a lot of votes for the republicans and keep them in power. I think the majority in this country just want our current immigration laws enforced.

If the Republicans got out in front and strapped on a pair and actually enforced immigration laws the dems would look like pansies again. It would force people in politics to come down on one side or the other either you are for it or against it. And the dems would most likely try to appeal to there base and be soft on the issue although big mother Hillary is probably smart enough to go right on the issue and back enforcement.

I will believe it when I see it as well. But I wonder if there will be more to come?

Remember that the neocons have a significant base comprised of industries whose livelihoods depend on a steady diet of illegal labor - chiefly, the homebuilding, construction, retail, and service industries. I don't think we'll see anything that will get the hackles up of the real repug base ($$$).

Cheap English speaking labor will be plentiful in the near future?

Well during the great depression there illegal immigration was cracked down on too. It is a historical fact, it is hard to remember that any job was a good job less than 80 years ago.

Right you are. :(

I should hope that the U.S. doesn't still have outright slave labor, though.

It is too late. The borders are gone. It is now at the point where we must defend. It will be brutal.
4+ children on AVERAGE per mature reproductive female is outright DEADLY. I used to be very active on this front however greed has won out. A "patriot". The corruption and filth is ingrained throughout this nation. very sad indeed. I must now focus on what I can do.
This "blossoming" will begin to be truly shown in around 20 years. watch out. Been said before actions HAVE consequences. Most dont "see" them currently. I would never bring a child into this world in the curent paradigm. adopt sure. And any women who does and cares for the seed must plan accordingly. Immigration since ww2 is unsustainable and Deadly. The last continent does not understand these things....Yet.

The bible says "fill the earth" not OVERFILL it. Yes the worst violators of Gods creations are the Catholics from my experiences. They do not address overpopulation which is the #1 cause and effect of all problems in the world today. Wolves in sheeps clothing everywhere. If there is a God he is just waiting to smote. "It" seems to like slow drawn out suffering, pain before death.

True. Just another juncture where logic trumps dogma. 'Filling the earth' made sense when the earth contained only a few million inhabitants, and had natural checks like plagues, droughts and famines. Now, it makes no sense at all, considering we're coming up on 7 billion rather quickly.

I just heard this on NPR.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... Id=4964469

What kind of immigrants is he talking about? What kind of "needs of employers" is he talking about?

Is it cheap programmers from India again or what?

It looks like you need them after all over there...

I'm always amused by complaints about illegal immigrants. People (Lou Dobbs included) always seem to focus on "south of the border" immigrants. No Mexicans, no Guatemalans, no Nicaraguans, etc, ad ifinitum. How many illegal Canadians or Irish are working in the US? How many of these are deported annually?

The current US administration is not going to do anything about illegal immigration, especially immigration from the global south. They have only one goal: to reduce wages in the US. Until US wages are brought down to third world levels, the government will do nothing about illegal immigration. A recent proposal to sell thousands of HB-1 visas for $500 each is more of the same.

In the US we have an immigration problem for many reasons. The first among these is NAFTA. NAFTA has resulted in the dumping of subsidized US agricultural surpluses on Mexico (among others). This has destroyed the agricultural economy of Mexico. Mexican farmers are being forced off their land because they can no longer compete with cheap subsidized corn from the US. Their only option is to come to the US to try to support themselves and their families. Latin America seems to be waking up: no CAFTA, no FTAA. More power to them. Viva Hugo Chavez!

My solution to the Mexican illegal immigrant problem is to kill NAFTA, kill the WTO and the IMF, and give back to Mexico the lands we stole from them in 1846--especially Texas and California. Good riddance!

Oh yes, by all means give those states back so that the even more corrupt Mexican government can cash in. The US will need all of its infrastructure back though.
