Not "fixed". Never existed in the first place. Fear mongering and pimping hysteria to suckers certainly requires "fixing", but reality did pretty well handling all but the religious zealots as of about today. Suckers and fanatics are the only ones left, or even more amusingly, those so desperate to keep the story alive that they pimp it out of sheer ignorance.
