$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('sirrom', 'h')ow much electicity does it take to pump water to our houses?
say 150 litres a day(uk per capita average)
This question is far more fundamental to most people than will they be able to drive their car to work (I don’t).
Potable water is probably one of the true definitions of civilization. The Romans were famous for the recognition of it where ever they went with baths and aqueducts.
I have read up to a quarter of the electricity used by modern civilization is for pumping and purifying water. I have heard Dr. Dean Edell on his weekly radio program say upwards of 30% of deaths in 1900 was caused by water borne disease (Dysentery, Typhus, and Cholera).
Anyone out there now reading this, it is imperative for your future survival that you understand how to purify (make it so it doesn’t kill you) water. Can be done with simple beach or water pasteurization with a solar rig (does not require boiling). Many good sites. Just put those words into the search engine.
