There is still a long way to go. The foreign exchange and commodities market always move first. Gold has been moving for years. Smart money was in long ago. Now large investments funds like Calpers are just starting to get into the commodities game. Joe sixpack will be last as usual, but his move is key, for his move is the checkmate. Right now he is aware of rising prices. When the price increases in the stores begins looking like the precious metals and forex markets today, that is when the bulk of the people will begin to panic buy and hyperinflation will kick in. We have many months if not a year or two to go for that to happen in my opinion.

Everyone should buy as much as they can before it is too late.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'w')hen the bulk of the people will begin to panic buy and hyperinflation will kick in.

We need to see workers demanding higher pay also. Then we get a nioce spiral going.

A state agency just did a survey at my place of employment.

Of 165 employees who participated, the number one concern was pay.

Most felt that they weren't making enough.

I believe that is directly related to the value of the USD dropping like a rock.

It's only going to accelerate when ole Helicopter Ben lowers rates again.

We're all getting poorer, at an accelerating rate. At this point a 12% annual raise would only keep a person even with it.

I think getting ahead and saving for retirement are something that the majority will never be able to do. I'm in that majority now unfortunately.

At least I was able to turn most of my paper into tangible stuff that will hold its value relative to the plummeting dollar.

Roccman, your work on this thread, and elsewhere here is greatly appreciated.

Keep it up!

Roy it is going to get even worse than that.

Many of those same people are going to be wishing they still had a paycheck to worry about in a year.

On another note Eli...you see how Karl Denniger has STFU about gold/silver...now he hides behind a $150 pay wall.

A few months ago he was saying his veggie VW was going to save him from PO...

Bwhahhahahahahahahahahahah!!!

I think it is time for Karl to eat some serious crow.

I dunno, roccman. I mean, have you checked the price of crow these days? I'm thinking a budget meal of sewer rat or wall lizard might be more in line with salaries these days.

Roccman you are right, I have always said his petition was total BS too. Karl's other big problem is that he keeps talking about "where are the cops?"when the cops are in a mad scramble to keep the crooks alive.

The thing is though we need to look for a major reset in the stock market equities have not taken into account PO and the size of the debt market collapse.

When that happens we are likely to see all asset classes deflate. But people who are long oil and food are going to be fine compared to anything else that is not vital to living.
