us energy security

Unread postby sameu » Fri 20 Oct 2006, 12:56:55

we all know the us peaked in 1970 and that they have to import more and more oil every year

but I was wondering how about the other energy sources? From what I've read here the natural gas situation isn't very good either
but I don't have an idea about nuclear energy in the us

In short, can someone give me status on the energy situation in the us and how secure (or insecure) their energy supply is

tnx

Check http://www.api.org for the American Petroleum Institute's current statistics. Also check http://www.eia.doe.gov for the official Energy Information Agency's statistics.

The U.S. produces more nuclear electricity than any other nation on earth (France included), although because of the huge size of the U.S. economy, nuclear represents less than 20% of total electricity generated. Check http://www.world-nuclear.org for nuclear statistics.

Right now we are paying slightly more than US$2 for one gallon of gas. That is approximately 0.40 euro per liter.
