I am the catalyst for PeakSpeak. I rarely go on the site and see people in PeakSpeak chatting it up about PO or whatever they feel like talking about. I rarely see anyone take the plunge and sign on to PeakSpeak (gasp) alone. Now there are people on this site for hours and hours each day (you know who you are
). Clearly it's possible for PeakSpeak to be filled at all times thanks to the fact that this is an international forum. However, it's usually just Jato, NevadaGhosts, and I. Maybe a few others jump on now and then, but it's usually rather empty and unused. I'm usually the one to sign on first and send out the "OK" signal for others to join me. So here's my question, why?
There are roughly 5000 members on peakoil.com (complete guess). There are many people with over 500 posts. I consider 500 posts a rather substantial investment of time (and energy
) into this topic. If all of the people with over 500 posts went on PeakSpeak every now and then, we could have a real conversation. It seems like people are afraid of real time conversation...And I ask it again, why? Why is everyone afraid to use PeakSpeak? It's not that difficult to figure out and can be quite entertaining (certainly more entertaining than staring at a computer screen and reading text for 45 minutes). I suggest that everyone try out PeakSpeak if they can. If you hate it, it's free. If you like it, great, I have another person to talk to.
