What a co-incidence that all of this occurs right after the release of Super Size Me.

Mc Donald's to outsource its jobs??

Postby pea-jay » Fri 11 Mar 2005, 04:23:31

It's hard to believe, but even fast food retailers see some perks to outsourcing...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'M')cDonald's wants to outsource your neighborhood drive-thru.

The world's largest fast-food chain said on Thursday it is looking into using remote call centers to take customer orders in an effort to improve service at its drive-thrus.

"If you're in L.A. ... and you hear a person with a North Dakota accent taking your order, you'll know what we're up to,'' McDonald's (MCD, news, msgs) Chief Executive Jim Skinner told analysts at the Bear Stearns Retail, Restaurants & Apparel Conference in New York.

Call center professionals with "very strong communication skills'' could help boost order accuracy and ultimately speed up the time it takes customers to get in and out of the drive-throughs, the company said.

Gee, you used always be able to count on finding a McJob, but now even domestic chains can decipher ways to out source to their advantage, even in an industry that does not lend itself to that trend. Granted, these particular jobs went only to North Dakota, but if they can go there, how much harder would it be hard to make it to New Delhi?

Oh well, peak oil will put an end to this this madness

Pretty soon there won't be any more jobs to outsource. Americans demand cheap products and services, no matter what the cost.

But I heard one will always be able to find work... in a debtors's prison. 8O

great - for most of the LA drive thrus there could be a call centre in Mexiko or Venezuela, as most of their clients are native spanish speakers and the cost for the call centre down there would be a quarter of the cost in North Dakota (whereever that might be... :) )

Maybe they can cook the burger somewhere in Mexika and ship in a heated truck - the customers of McD are used to eat burgers that where kept warm over a longer period of time...

Not sure what... we outsource all those "dirty manufacturing jobs" and "tedious service jobs". We then "in-source" (bring in immigrants) to do those those "jobs that Americans would never want to do" (from ag labor to cleaning to lawn care to construction). This is good because it frees us Americans to do those "innovative and creative jobs" that we lead the world at.

Like creating economists that spout this crap that justifies these trends...

Off To McDonalds

Postby Aaron » Tue 19 Apr 2005, 17:30:38

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'B')ut like several recent smaller studies, it found that people who are modestly overweight actually have a lower risk of death than those of normal weight.

The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

What the heck do you mean, "risk of death?" We have a pretty high risk of death. Give it 100 years and that risk hits about 100%.

that's cause their body fat index is cripto-scat.

a little fat is good, too much fat is bad, and too little fat is bad.

there, life made simple.

Now find some wholesome food (non-hydronated, no MSG or it's hidden sources, Non GM, and no non-fermented Soy products) and cook it up at home...

I read in the newspaper once that left handed people are about 0% of elderly people. Somehow, for some reason, us lefties die young.

At the age of 65, all lefties are rounded up and killed. The law was passed in 1930(ish) and has worked just fine. I'm glad I'm right handed.

BTW, where do you think baloney comes from???

The only 1930(ish) law I know of is the one outlawing the inhalation of cannibis smoke. There must be some reason. Statistics are irrefutable.

It was actually a two-part bill. It banned pot in exchange for wiping out all lefties past the age of 65. A fair trade off in my book.

To add to this, my local news station had a report on how people over the age of 45 or so should not over exercise or you might die of a heart attack. They recommend have some scan done to check for blockage. The dude that was on was in very good shape and ran every day, he almost died!

Eat whole foods, sit on my ass...sounds good to me :)

McDonald's feels petrol pain

McDonald's feels petrol pain

SKY-HIGH petrol prices are finally causing real pain for consumers according to McDonald's Australia, which yesterday warned of slumping sales growth.

The Australian arm of the US burger giant admitted 4 to 5 percentage points had been knocked off sales growth in just the past three or four weeks.
McDonald's Australia chief executive Peter Bush said the double whammy of increased mortgage interest rates in March-April and sharply higher fuel prices had come home to roost in the past month.....,

...He also said that he doubted McDonald's was alone in feeling the pinch.

...His warning was the bluntest yet of any Australian retail outlet on the effects of rising petrol prices

Most economic statistics released in recent weeks do not capture the period Mr Bush referred to.

However, Westpac's consumer sentiment survey, released on Wednesday, showed the eighth largest fall in confidence since the survey began in 1974 with a fall of 13.3 percentage points....

We have tried with our first creatures but we could not make them venerate us.
So let us try to make obedient respectful beings who shall

Alright, now you Australian can forgive us American & European for being jealous of you. After all you guys going to be far less fatty.

This is what I’ve been telling you guys. Peak Oil (or rather passing Oil Apex) is not a bad thing. I always hated clowns. Cheer up.

Ps: Have you guys notice they call Saudi’s oil fields/province “mature”? That’s mature, in the same way that 75 years old man is mature.
We are babies, we must cry.
Oil is Peaking, we must lie.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')t is believed growth has been knocked from high single figures to a few per cent at best.

So what the hell does this mean exactly?

Are McDonalds sales growing, or are they now shrinking?
It looks like they were growing at something like 9% per year, and are now only growing at maybe 2% per year. If this is the case, they are still growing, but slower.

So, maybe with 2% growth, the regional sales manager gets fired, but Mickey D's still is making money.

At soem point when this turns to shrinkage, AU is in for real pain.
