I tuned in to the O'Reilly factor yesterday for the first time in months.

IMHO-I found his tough stance on big oil and other ideas to have as much realistic substance as a fart in the wind.

I think OReilly's crusade against the Oil Companies is exactly what was predicted in the DVD "The End of Suburbia." In that documentary, someone stated that instead of powering down, Americans will fight hard to maintain their existing lifestyle at all cost. That's what is now being reflected in O'Reilly's attack on the oil companies. Instead of Americans taking serious the message to stop its addiction to oil, they want to maintain access to cheap fuel by attacking oil company profits. Clearly, if you look at the oil demand/supply charts posted by Zardoz in the Current Events forum, you will see that oil demand exceeded oil supply 1st quarter of 2006. So, attacking oil company profits, eliminating fuel taxes, etc are all just very temporary solutions to an inevitable rise in the cost of fuel. Bottom line, the pessimists are right. Rather than changing willingly, Americans will fight hard to maintain cheap fuel, bc they believe it is their "right." In fact, Americans may never accept change. The resource wars will continue and Americans will continue to fight high gas prices until they can't fight anymore and are exhausted financially, politically, and militarily.

Well put Seahorse,

Yesterday I heard not just O'Reilly but all the talking heads as well pointing to everything but the big elephant in the room, or rather the big elephant in the mirror. I think what is going on is a subconscious reaction to blame others than deal with the reality that supply curve is getting out paced by demand.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Atlantean_Relic', 'W')hy Don't we flood him with E-mails saying " IT'S PEAK OIL YOU OBTUSE BOLVIATING MONOLOGUE"
:-D

At least this web site makes me laugh once in a while.

I think Oreilly believes what he says, but he is not informed and has way too much clout.

a year ago he complained how the UN and OKI FANOKEE had some kinda DEAL and get em outa here type stuff, and he was hitting them hard when I wrote him and said, calm down, the repubs are in it hot and heavy too, why dont you think oki isnt in jail yet.
amazing how it all blew over. Bill stopped talking.

he is making a huge mistake on the border issue, if you shut the border our economy will take a huge hit in all areas this is not a good time to wall it up but that is a long discussion and I don't want to even worry about that, we have something way more imminent and serious and it won't get fixed but it will get played on, the oil deficit and our oil bowwowing ways.

Piper gets payed soon.

I don't know why but I thought of the song
"Here we are just dust in the wind"

Thanks for the thought you made my day special.:O

I close my eyes
Only for a moment, then the momen't gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind, ohh Now, don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind Dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
The wind

replace DUST and the song takes on new meaning.

Like all of God's creatures, the life of TOTO has long gone into the sunset of FM radio where it died a quiet death. I understand TOTO'S work is making a revival in Lucifer's 3rd ring of hell set aside for dentists, call center reps who put folks on hold, and soft rock station programers. The circle is complete.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Eli', 'B')ill made the excellent point that the oil companies don't care about the average American and are stickin it to em and taking advantage of us in the midst of our war on terror.

So why blame the oil companies?

The grandmaster POTUS, cretin-in-chief has implemented tax-cuts "during a war" and told everyone to "go shopping" so the grand capitalist project has not been put on hold due to a mere war that will last for our lifetimes.....

During the bread shortages of the French Revolution bakers were hung by the neck with rope outside their shops for charging high prices. They were greedy capitalists in the minds of "the people".

I am sorry if this has been posted elsewhere on here. This is great. Letterman really rips Bill a new one.

I think David did a horrible job at debating him, not calling Bill on a couple of his claims, such as "we are stabilizing Iraq" and "there is no more terrorism in Iraq now than there was before." Instead, Dave let loose a couple of red herrings- valid points, but ones that didn't address Bill's claims- which he really didn't have to resort to doing, in order to try and get the drop on Bill. I'd say that Bill's position was way more organized, even though it was completely unacceptable (full of lies), and that anyone who hasn't studied the issue has more reason to believe Bill's side than Dave's, because they would be able to pick up on his lies.

Yeah, Bill's experience at arguing shows compared to Dave's (then again bill argues for a living...lol). When it comes to accessing the big picture though neither are noteworthy. Though I suspect Dave has more potential for seeing reality.

I like the debate where that CIA analyst went against Rumsfeld. Made Rumsfeld look like total shit. That was a good one. :-D

I think people like Dave do what they can when they can - its a talk show after all and if Dave really wanted to drill Bill I bet he would never return to the show.

Well, Bill's right on at least one point:

"Absolutely, it's all about oil. The whole world is about oil!"

yeah, but notice how that got dropped pretty quick by both of them. they both know that its the facts and they both also know that that American's don't want to hear it. these guys are both part of the consensus trance or else they know that they can't discuss it in public. I caught a glimmer there that they've both talked about it before, maybe at their bowling tournaments or over Thanksgiving dinner.
