That depends on how one raises an adopted child; humans can have a singularly destructive impact or a miraculously productive one.
Looking at the issue in pure mathmatical terms gives a fairly grim projection. I am not one of those "procreationists" into the sport of having children. I married a woman who would never be happy without at least 1 child. I want to be married to a happy woman and I like children.
Right now I have both.
I don't doubt for a second life is going to get real tough; my wife is under no illusions either. But then there is biology. And hope.
