7lb/6oz healthy happy girl! The typhhon is still raging around us but we are 70 miles north of Manila and it's not flooding in one direction. When the Botolan River flooded for the 3rd time this month we were cut off from Iba so we went to Olongapo.
Filipinos are almost oblivious to Typhoons until the water litterally knocks them over; even then it's all in good fun and comraderie.
The bus I caught last night to collect things from home at 4.00 am was running through a foot or so of water at 50mph; the conductor making big eyes with commuters saying "It's signal number 3!"

Her name is Chrishana; she is doing just fine. The "medical system" (HA!) here is a frigging joke. But it appears we are all OK.
As for her role in the petri dish? Mmmm lucky I'm an Aussie and I like a man who 'don't beat around the bush'.
I prefer to take a slightly mystical view of parenting at this point in history.
Those here who know my posts know I am a full believer in the most dasterdly aspects of peak oil (dieoff); you probably also know I have somewhat of a spiritual bent.
I choose to believe that the only future humanity has is in really properly educated children. I am not talking about under the old paradigm at all.
The children who are being born now are possibly the most likely to survive the calamities coming. Look at the last great generation; the children of the great depression. They were some damn fine resilient humans that lot. Compared to that generation the world has become populated and ruled by jellyfish.
Raise people not jellyfish!
That's my motto. OK?

Thanks Efarmer! She is doing great! When I am away working we are on skype every night, so we haven't lost contact other than physicly for a few months. I am so looking forward to time off with both of my girls. When they come to the land of Oz it will be winter, we will go to the snow. My wife has never been on a plane, never been further than 16 degrees from the equator, so the 1st thing we do is a trip around the continent, then up the center. it's going to be a blast!

Hi y'all.
Haven't posted lately as I have been extremely busy after my last 2 month stint in the Philippines.
I am back in Australia, in Darwin, working 2 jobs while I wait for my wife and babies papers to be done by immigration.
A lot of plans have had to be put on hold while this is sorted out, including floating home.
All up the immi process has cost me about $12,000.
Anyhow, I am struggling a bit with the new forum.

Congratulations on the new little baby. Speaking as the mother of THREE little girls (all grown now), I can tell you, they're a special delight. And I agree with you - it's going to be the well-educated, thoughtful, intelligent children who've been taught and trained to be INDEPENDENT THINKERS that may save our collective arses.
