Whenever I'm in America it never ceases to amaze me just how rubbish US TV is... if you want to find out what you are missing the BBC are now experimenting with offering live feeds of their popular TV channels BBC1, BBC2, BBC4 and BBC News 24. They're 365Kbps Real Video streams and the quality's great.

Once these streams go public they'll probably be restricted to UK-based IPs (or international IPs who pay a fee) and some shows will be blocked due to rights issues. (Although pretty much all their radio content is free to anyone who cares to access it, so you never know.) At the moment though the streams appear to be unblocked and open to anyone. Enjoy them while you can, they probably won't be around forever.

BBC2 http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/rams/uni/bbc2.ram

BBC4 http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/rams/uni/video16.ram

BBC News 24 http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/rams/uni/news24.ram

Haven't spent much time watching BBC, but CBC is way better than anything in the US.

I always wondered about this. Here in Canada we get ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN etc. on our cable. Can you guys in the US get CBC, CTV, CITYTV, etc in the US? I was wondering about this the other night as I was watching a movie on TBS out of Atlanta where they had replaced all the naughty words with "nice" words. Canadian standards are quite abit more relaxed, especially when it comes to nudity so are those Canadian channels on basic cable in the US?

Nope.

But if you live in a place where cbc is available on broadcast TV, it is sometimes also on cable. The last two places I've lived that was the case. In the Seattle area you get it from Victoria. In southeast Michigan you get it from Windsor.

Hold on there. We use to get CBC on our Comcast cable. That is before we had it shut down some 8 months ago.

We get CBC on Satellite (DirectTV)

I watch a lot of news programs and try to watch Canadian News at least once each day. I'm not sure it's really any different or better than the others. Different agenda, sure. Different emphasis. The anti-Americanism seeps in occasionally.

Hey, everyone's got an agenda.
