China won't cap or reduce CO2 emission until 2050

What's on your mind?
General interest discussions, not necessarily related to depletion.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('americandream', 'I') advise these bloodsuckers, I entertain them, wine and dine with them, know what they think of their employees.....I wouldn't be an employee for all the tea in China and I'm grateful I had the opportunity to be my own boss. However, I know only too well who makes these leeches their wealth...the little guy who clocks in dutifully each day and does his job, not these 2-4 spongers.

Sure I'ld like a saner society but theres no way I am gonna play happy tree hugger in this nuthouse. Doesn't work mate! Seen one too many dewey eyed idealist get burnt after I had warned them...fools. It's nuts and I might as well make sure I am not dependant on it for anything other than the absolute necessities.

I know how these corporate fuckers think. I worked for Barclays Capital in the London Docklands for 3 years. Within the building there was a hierachy based on how much you earned. Even one of the IT staff was complaining to me one day that the traders wouldnt speak to him because he was only in a support department. 99% of these people wouldnt piss on an average Joe if he was on fire.

Yep, nothing like unless supply of peasant cannon fodder. I don't think the Soviets would have even needed to kill Germans, the Germans would run out of bullets probably, LOL

Someday the average Joes are going to get fed up and roll a few gasoline-filled drums, and then we'll see if the average Joe will piss on those corporate people when THEY are on fire (literally)

I wonder why this isnt bigger news. If the chinese stick to this promise it means that the fight against climate change has been lost. And that means that we have to start preparing for it instead of trying to prevent it.

Too true the fight against CC is lost. Probably never even started. But thats not the point. The point is TO MAKE MONEY out of it - bleed us (suckers) dry. Start preparing TO PAY FOR IT.

American dream makes me laugh. All high falutin words, then he says,

I day trade forex and am a tax lawyer professionally. As I have said once before in this forum, earning an income is not the issue and does not make me; learning to think independently is what defines me. My earning acumen is an incidental, I could just as well be earning a fraction of what I do working as a fisherman in a society that is truly representative of my interests and would be the better for it.

& later goes on to say

I advise these bloodsuckers, I entertain them, wine and dine with them, know what they think of their employees.....I wouldn't be an employee for all the tea in China and I'm grateful I had the opportunity to be my own boss. Just another pigman, with a guilty consience, maybe ?.

Gasmon

Rather a pigman with a conscience than an unemployed Yorkshire coalminer with no money and a conscience for sale to any political party who will subsidise him.

Unfortunately Gasmon, and this is a paradox I admit, it will take individuals with enough resourcefulness or private resources so as not to be dependant on the system to challenge it. How many TU leaders have we seen who sold out. As for the Labour Parties in the UK and NZ and everywhere in between, politics is simply a stepping stone to corporate connections.

I did the idealism thing after I graduated. Watched most friends and comrades around me sell out to the boss and job. I decided not to be an employee for that very same reason. My clients know I'm a raving commie, my friends and family do. No pin striped tosser here mate. I get the work 'cos I know the system and tax policy. They don't like what I believe in, they needn't walk through my door. It's that simple. I'll still survive on my trading. It's all about self sufficiency mate if you want to stand by your beliefs. Just be careful that the wealth does not get to you though as I've a few ex raving commie mates who have developed mighty big plums in their mouths.

People have never prepared.

People react when it is too late.

Exactly right.

The MSM aren't publicizing this because the "politically correct" line is that the Kyoto Treaty and the new treaty being prepared will actually do something to fix the climate change problem.

The Chinese are NEVER, NEVER going to concede. If Mao was starry eyed enough to believe that he could use socialism as a foundation for Western style grandeur, nothing in the world will dissuade his successors otherwise. These guys want to emulate us down to the last cultural tenet as they hunger for our way of life (which is understandable.) Although our way of life will ultimately kill us all, are we prepared to drastically flick it it. I think not.

So my advice would be to have fun and let time work its magic on human society. I don't recycle. I couldn't be bothered with green politics. I'm living as if theres enough left to run this ship forever. And whose to say I'm wrong. I turn on the tv and theres some sweet talking hustler trying to sell me a fuel guzzling SUV.

Most of the "cash for clunkers" money went to people buying big pickup trucks and the Ford Escape SUV.
