[quote="JohnDenver") Here's one. About a week ago, Pops started a thread called
Race Riots or Worse. In the thread itself, he just mentioned civil unrest, and steered clear of the race issue. So why use the title "Race Riots", Pops? Why is race on your mind? And why not talk about race, after naming a thread "Race Riots"? It's seems weird. It's like you want to talk about it, but not talk about it.[/quote]
Good question JD. In fact my thoughts regarding whites/politics/healthcare/msm are much the same as yours.
Race and politics are more subtly entwined and more skillfully played by partisans today than at most any point I remember. The kid flipping a bird wasn't my original thought for a picture, I wanted a picture of a bunch of angry white people screaming but ran out of time.
Funny you call me on it though.
Partisan drivel and worse here at PO.com has festered too long in my opinion and has become a detriment to our main goal of discussing energy depletion. The plain fact is there are lots of places to discuss politics, religion, race and not so many to discuss PO.
So I was mostly interested in hearing the people who spend lots of time talking about little but partisan politics, race, hate, etc to see if we can find a way we can all talk without scaring off people who actually want to educate themselves about energy.
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.
-- Abraham Lincoln, Fragment on Government (July 1, 1854)
