Flying through South East Asia being Australian is a little stressfull at the moment. On arrival at each port one must hand over a declaration of health status including whether one has been to any high incidence countries for swine flu.
In the Philippines I was told on arrival for my 1 week vacation with my family here that I should quarantine myself for 10 days. I didn't bother explaining the impossibility of this.
I went to church with my heavily pregnant wife on Sunday, there were several people with chest infections; one guy was continually coughing into a handkerchief and blowing his nose. The pastor eventually made a comment about people worrying about their health and rolled his eyes at this bloke; he walked outside.
There were people coughing on both the flights out here and I was one of 2 people on each flight with a surgical mask.
I have no doubt there are many more undiagnosed carriers than diagnosed. Biggest worry for me is if I even get a snotty nose I would be held in Singapore.

Here in HK my kids go back to school tomorrow and we are required to submit declarations of the countries we have visited during the holidays and any contact we have had with victims. On an ongoing basis we have to record their temperature every morning before school and submit a signed form each day before they are allowed into school. All the forms get submitted to the government - one wonders what they are going to do with them all.

I've made a couple of border crossings into mainland China since this began. You have to fill in a declaration when you leave HK and then another one when you go through Chinese customs, and then same again when you return. With thousands crossing at that border post daily I can't imagine how they could possibly be managing all those forms and how on earth they would find the ones they need in an emergency.

Mission Creep: Military prepares for Swine Flu Epidemic

Unread postby WyoDutch » Wed 29 Jul 2009, 12:03:56

It was inevitable. Once the federal government established the "Northern Command"... the military would be looking for ways to increase the size of its footstep on the American landscape.

This is why Posse Comitatus came into being in the first place.

From the article: $this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')s a first step, Gates is being asked to sign a so-called "execution order" that would authorize the military to begin to conduct the detailed planning to execute the proposed plan.

Not only will the military be ready, but, by golly, if nothing happens, they'll be set to make something happen--no point in getting all dressed and then having no place to go, now is there?

Great. Just another thing to plan for. Grrr. How difficult is it to just follow the Constitution?

The swine flu is hoax. The military is going to use the excuse of swine flu to execute forced vaccinations and implant RFID chips in the population. If you don't accept your forced vaccination and the forced vaccination of your children then you are an anti-American terrorist.

I guess I would be a terrorist then.

Of course a few camera flash bulbs, capacitors, batteries and a bit of wire makes a very neat RFID Zapper.

Here's a few very bleak quick facts about where we now stand regarding the H1N1 flu.

If you have got your fill of h1n1 hype and propaganda here are plenty of links that perhaps illustrate just why that is.

Looks like most of us are going to get our big pharma jabs in due time whether we want them or not and irregardless of the threat. Hmmm.

eastbay, thank you so much for that link. I forwarded it to several people who I know will appreciate the proactive advice the Doc provided.
I will not take the shot. I am 51 years old so seemingly out of the target age range. Also reading how long it takes to find the current vaccine and then to learn how "uncooperative" the virus is in the lab is more reason not to compromise my immune system with a cocktail of chemicals that most likely won't help me.
It is my children and grand kids I shall worry about.
Having the humidifier handy and building Vitamin D is also doable for the average person. And not touching my face?! That will be my downfall. I just caught myself rubbing my hand on my face between sentences.
I am using August and September to stock up as if I couldn't shop for a while. Thanks to the PO preps mindset and my plan-ahead upbringing, this goal will be added insulation in case we see limited access to commerce.

a hybrid of common flu and aids is much more dangerous than this minor mutation of an old buddie. I chose: VALHALLA!  :)

PrairieMule, that sign should read "Imminent," not "Eminent."

I don't usually correct the spelling of others on the Internet, but in this case misspellings detract from the message.

I'm no scientist, but I can't think of any reason why they'd need three shots for one pathogen.
