Oil price at $100 or S&P at 1,000

Does The S&P Top 1,000 Before Crude Trades Above $100?
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', ' ')Stockholders and oil speculators cannot both win a race to much higher ground. Sometime in the next month one or the other market is going to push sharply higher over a matter of a few days. The other market will end up being flattened in the process.

S&P 500. Percentage wise, it's a shorter hill to climb.

Next question, which will plummet 50% or more in the mother of all crashes? That's easy - the S&P 500.

When do you predict the "mother of all crashes" will happen?

When you see "Peak Everybody Including the Pizza Delivery Kid Sharing Stock Tips and Marvelling at How Incredibly Easy It Is To Make Money ", then you'll see the crash.

Both could happen, actually. It seems possible that turning on the firehose of printed money at the Fed could inflate both the S&P and oil.

I picked oil.

I imagine the race will be most fun towards the end. A lot like basketball, where the game comes down to the last few minutes.

Should be a fun poll!

Well it will be interesting. I am going to go on break until oil hits $100. Hopefully then po.com will turn back to po.com

Oil will go high , in USD, if the market goes boom.
Oil will go skyhigh, in USD, if the market doesn't have enough oil to sell.
Therefore, 2011 should be one way or another the point of maximum impact on the markets. The best shot to guess could be 2012 but I don't think they'll manage to get it that far.

I voted oil@100$ :P

I think the price of gold reaching $1000 would be a nice addition to the poll too.
