It's all perfectly normal. You are still allowed to leave, for now. Drip, drip drip. Do you get it yet? link

The last time I came down to the US, they had a fancy new fingerprint scanner at customs in Vancouver.
For those who don't know US customs is set up in Canadian airports so you clear US customs before you ever leave Canada.
Anyway they scanned both hands, thumbs included. I guess this is the next step, to do people leaving the US, too.

I didn't get thrown into jail so I must have passed the test. :)

I'm going salmon fishing at Langara Island, BC this summer and will pass through Vancouver on the way. I will be interested to see what happens.

Flying or Driving?
I think you have to have a Passport now. Just a driver's license isn't good enough any more.
H.S. rule not a Canadian rule, btw.

Flying and yes a Passport is required. Might as well take advantage of the travel discounts while we have them.

Just another reason to accept the fact that:

1. Americans don't want anyone in. Xenophobia at it's best.

2. I should not travel to the U.S.

And if TSHTF, I don't want Americans here either.

I've got everything I need here in Canada. Within 4-6 weeks our dollar will be par with the U.S. again. We just signed up with OPEC, and soon we'll be the bread basket of the world again like we were in the 1800's. We've got fresh water, massive amounts of open space, millions of tonnes of wood, the list goes on. If the U.S. wants to discourage people coming to it's country by forcing them what was designed for convicts and government employees to leave, I get the hint. If this isn't a biggest hint that the Americans want to isolate themselves from the world on the ground, I don't know what else is.

I'd be curious to see what would happen if you refuse. Does the U.S. kidnap me from re-entering my home country? Do I get arrested which then FORCES them to fingerprint me.

Mods to need to insert the Swastika Smilie I need one.

What the hell, ki11lercane? Don't confuse good ol' Red Ed the Farmer from Alberta talking with OPEC as being the same as Canada joining OPEC.

Good fishing to you, AAA and enjoy your visit. Spend lots of those US dollars there, Too bad they won't go as far as a couple of months ago but what the hell. Or maybe you already did an exchange awhile back? That would have worked out well if you did.

Maddog78, I'm just curious, and a bit off topic, but why are you using the Red Ensign as your Pic? I'm Canadian also, so I have to sort of assume you are an old Loyalist? N'est Pas ?
P.S. what part of B.C. do you hail from? I've got family in Kelowna I'm visiting this fall.

There is a big difference between a relationship with OPEC verses membership into OPEC. You might need to read up a little more on what OPEC is.

Whatever dude. Your overparanoid country, false flag operations, and TP cash printing are already signaling the beginning of the end for the U.S. Being told I have surrender my fingerprints before I leave is but a minor sideplay in the Big Game. The rest of the world gets the hint Schmuto don't worry you don't have to get all excited to get your point across.

I was actually excited years ago when the U.S. was considering building walls around the U.S. border to keep "Canadian terrorists out." Ha what a joke! That's something "god's people" do in Israel to keep the <media from seeing U.S. backed Israeli soldiers from killing little girls with phosphate shells> Palestinian terrorists out. Too bad they didn't follow through. It would just give me another reason to "look north."

You're already being bitch slapped by your country's shitty fiscal shell games and BS foreign policies. Isolating yourself off from the rest of the world on the ground is a good idea believe me I am not knocking it!

If anything, you should be leaving the U.S. Just go anywhere except Canada.

It was the flag of our country the year I was born.
I mostly adopted it as an avater to annoy a poster called Nickel, an eastern liberal/socialist, who I used to get into some good debates with. Speaking of which I haven't seen her around lately.

I live/have a house in Abbotsford but I also live/work in Tulsa, OK for a natural gas company active in the Woodford shale.
Kelowna is very nice. Property has really dropped there. If NG prices rebound a bit this fall/winter it may be time for me to look for a place around there.

i don't like these things because they create the chance of screwing up and mis-reading a fingerprint.

some schmoe commits a crime halfway across the world, and it gets blamed on you because the fingerprint smudged, or the computer's image processing software screwed up, or whatever.

all these things are being done in the name of security and all that had to happen to stop 9-11 was to allow "lower" level agents like Coleen Rowley do their job.

we don't need any new laws to "catch the bad guys". we just need people to do their jobs.

What creative "busy-work" ideas DHS comes up with these days. If their agents need something to fill their empty days, why don't they do the fingerprinting in other countries.

+1

They had one of these type systems when I was taking my boards. The only way you could get into the test room was to have the computer scan your fingerprint and ID you. I don't think that machine identified me correctly one time. And this was comparing to a print on the same scan pad and the same computer done only a few hours earlier.
