Politics aside, the US has an all volunteer armed service. Our fighting men and women do their job of their own accord. As a result, noone is forced into conscription and we all get a good nights sleep without a second thought for our personal safety.
For those serving now, and those who have served...

I'd say any Korean War vet should be proud that at least half the country was spared living those terrible conditions in NK.
