$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('jasonraymondson', 'T')ake peak oil one authentic problem that the government absolutly doesn't want people thinking about and he is against it. It makes you think.

I don't think it's disinfo. I'm not sure CT zealots are really capable of accepting anything at face value without manufacturing a CT behind it. That's all part of the pathology. They've lost the ability to trust the incoming stream of information in their lives unless it's a CT.

In other words, Peak oil is a scam to create artificial scarcity and drive prices up. Meanwhile, alternative fuel technologies which have been around for decades are intentionally suppressed.

Yep. But you're beating a dead horse. This has been discussed at least three times in this thread.

I think your point is valid. But it only applies to a certain segment of the population. I've met people who are all into the 2012 thing, UFOs, Bigfoot, Atlantis and buying future beach-front property in Arizona due to the impending "big one" earthquake and whatnot. The difference between them and others who read the news and government documents and despise corruption and tyranny is significant.

Most people on this site are never going to give Alex the benefit of the doubt because he flatly doesn't "believe" in peak oil. Which is fine, that is what this site is all about so it's like an attack on your kids or something. But the funny thing is that Peak Oilers and the Liberty Movement members do the same kind of preps: sustainable, renewable personal food supply, investing in PMs, keen interest in personal protection and distrust in government actions.

I'm fine with statements like this as long as they are accurate and make enough sense to acceptably pass a 4th grade writing assignment. Yours does not, unfortunately.

He is more in the camp of the Liberty Movement than conspiracy theorists.

I'd be very careful following anyone with a 'Liberty Movement' agenda.

What's his real agenda?

Personal power?

Don't become a stooge..........

BS. AJ is firmly entrenched in the conspiracy theorist movement. He just tries to tart up his message with patriotic overtones. A spade is a spade.

I believe this statement is made from ignorance and wishful thinking on your part of what you want him to be. The facts don't bear out this assertion. You should check the bibliography for his documentary "Endgame" which can easily be found online. While he regularly exaggerates a bit, it's pretty well documented with government documents, newspaper articles (NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post) and government officials own memoirs and quotes. You really don't seem to be aware of any of this at all. Something so well documented cannot be a "conspiracy theory". It's a documentary whose stated purpose is to expose tyranny.

No matter how many times you repeat it, a la Josef Goebbels' technique, that doesn't make it true.

OMG, I've been outed.

I actually like the guy, even for all his foibles and shortcomings. I think that he is a very imperfect person, but he works his ass of to try and do what is right, which I respect.

You have to remember he lives in my town so I've been exposed to him for about 13 years so I've seen him evolve. It's hard to completely get away from him with the billboards, radio shows and cable access television shows. I used to think he was absolutely insane and an idiot. I remember being in Fredricksburg, Texas around 2001 and I and my fiance were flipping the radio stations. One station out there had his show playing and they were discussing how the government was planning on eventually putting little small chips in people behind their neck to track them and put them in all products at stores to track the items. I thought, "This guy is completely f'ing wacko."

But then I read in the newspaper how they chipped workers in factories and some test families with RFID a few years ago. Then Wal-Mart started to require RFID on all their products in 2005.

This is just one example of the many times I heard and laughed hard at something he said in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and then it actually happened. I couldn't ignore him any more past a certain point and was pretty much forced to admit he had some credibility.

So that's why.

I've told this story before here, but I'll repeat it as an aside. I was in Radio Shack in South Austin one day in 2004. This is back when I still thought Alex was 100% insane.

The cashier seemed to be completely high/stoned and the line had grown to about 9 people. I see Alex Jones storm into the store. He grabbed a mike stand and went to the back of the line. By the second you could tell he was getting increasingly impatient. He started visibly twitching and pacing like a kid with 5 cases of ADD. He finally yelled, "Hey man! Can I just pay for this mike stand??" No one said anything and he cut in front of everyone. I thought, "What a f'ing jackass."

My opinion of his social shortcomings hasn't really changed.

Yep... I am.

And that dead horse pretty much destroys the guy's credibility IMO.

You don't even need the whole thing... just "Peak oil is a scam to create artificial scarcity..." ahhh....

We're done here.
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Aaron, I respect and understand your rejection of Alex. With the Peak Oil issue, it would be like a Christian being unable to acknowledge any credibility in an Atheist. Totally understandable.

But a long time ago, I learned that no one is perfect and it is unwise to 'throw the baby out with the bath water' when it comes to individuals. Everyone, no matter who they are, have some redeeming qualities.
